2004 ford taurus how can i know if a EGR valve?
2004 ford taurus how can i know if a EGR valve is bad i have rough idle, increase in fuel consumption i changed the o sensors maf sensor, i was thinking about checking the catalytic converter.
Its more likely an issue with the IAC valve. When its idling rough, lightly tap on the IAC with a hammer, if it idles well after that then replace the iac.
Fords have a ton of trouble with the idle air control valve on-top of the intake manifold.
You can easily test the EGR valve with the engine off: Remove the vacuum line in the center of the valve. Slide a two foot section of windshield washer line on the center of the valve. * Suck a vacuum on the tube with two fingers under the valve resting on the diaphragm. If the diaphragm retracts and stays there as long as you are pulling vacuum *the EGR valve is OK.
Use the scan check the EGR function, YOU STILL have a lean mixture problem, but you think reposting will give you an answer other then the OBVIOUS… How many parts you going to throw at this… CCV leak, could be egr but never seen it on 3.0L ford… If you check its function you'd know… Reread old post, my guess you have misfire codes, upstream O.2, and some p2195, 97, 98…
- What's the working span of EGR Valve? 2011 Ford SUV seldom used (1 month in a year) only during summer vacations. The vehicle undergo annual preventive maintenance. Low mileage. 2014 April sent for repairs after collision 2016 February returned to us after repairs (check engine light on appeared right away when they turned over the vehicle to us) they advised us to see if it still comes on 2017 April clicking soun heard, mechanics said the EGR Valve needs replacement. How is this possible when we barely use the vehicle?
