2000 Ford Taurus leaking transmission fluid and slipping gears?
Hi, so me and me friends did a muffler delete on a 2000 Ford Taurus SEL V6 with 76k miles. It sounded so sick that I kept flooring it on every street. Next thing I know I park it and it starts dripping a continuous stream of tranny fluid from the bottom. It slips gears really badly now. It doesn't make sense to blow a tranny in one session of driving hard so I don't think it has to do with wear on the transmission, what could the issue be? Cheapest way to fix it? When it's cold it isn't leaking or slipping just when it warms up it does

When it's cold it isn't leaking or slipping just when it warms up it does if the leak coming from between the back of the engine and front of the transmission you blew the front seal. Slipping probably from being low on fluid. There's no easy fix. The transmission needs to be removed and probably rebuilt due to internal damage from running low on fluid Pounding on a 16 year old car - - - - what result did you expect?
Too bad - - - with only 76,000 miles on it it could have lasted another 100M if properly maintained and treated… Now you can spend more than it's worth fixing it - or walk. It takes less than a minute to ruin an automatic transmission when you have an ATF cooler line rupture. Nice job dude! You're looking at $1600 or more! Once they slip they're toast. Add the CORRECT transmission fluid to the proper level and then wait and see if the slipping is gone. If slipping continues then you can just live with it if you like, my 1997 GL has slipped since we got it at 30,000 miles, It now has over 279,000 miles and hasn't quit yet.
You can have the leak repaired or just keep adding ATF when needed. My transmission developed a leak a few months ago, and I will just add ATF when it gets low enough.

- Why did my Ford E350 box truck start leaking transmission fluid? So I left my truck and didn't drive it for about a week or two and 2 days ago I noticed a huge leak that came from the transmission. I'm really curious as to why it happened since I didn't drive it for these two weeks and it happened just recently. What is going on? Bad seals? Hot weather made it start seeping through? I checked the fluid levels and they look fine to me. Advice?
- Why did my 2000 Ford Windstar just blow all off the tranny fluid out. But now its not leaking anything? I drove it with a trailer attached all day then I dropped the trailer off and drove home. When a was turning on to my street the car violently shuck but kept going I pulled into my drive way and looked under my car and big puddle of tranny fluid everywhere. So I filled it up this morning and drove it 75 miles and when I got back I was still full on fluid and nothing was leaking. So WHY?
- Transmission fluid leaking from ac condenser? I have a 08 Ford Taurus. The tranny fluid is leaking from ac condenser. My car has the AC on top part of condenser and the transmission cooler on bottom which is where it's leaking out. I bought a replacement for it but how long will it take to replace?
- I have a 2000 Ford Taurus Sedan that has a screeching metal on metal sound when switching gears to reverse? And the sound is there the entire time you are backing up. Does this sound like a transmission issue? Also hearing a rubbing noise in the steering, and it is a little tight, any idea what that could be? Also heater blows, but not real strong and no heat comes out… Does that sound like a difficult and expensive fix? And could the heater or any of the above issues cause my engine light to light up solid continuously? The car runs pretty good aside from these issues.
