Replace FUEL FILTER - in FORD CAR?
Hi
how easy to change the FUEL FILTER in a 2004 mercury sable car -
i have done it myself for the OIL change.want to know if i can do the FUEL FILTER CHANGE by sellf. Will it be as simple as a OIL FILTER change.
Have you looked on YouTube? I have a 2008 Mercury Mariner hybrid and during an oil service the technician showed me the fuel filter. Easy to do on the lift. Otherwise, well, not as easy. But it is metal container that supposedly once two clips are removed should be easy to replace. My car calls for a new one each 50,000 miles but I buy fuel at Costco mostly which is a super clean, quality fuel. This Costco sells about 25,000 gallons of fuel each day. The fuel is very fresh off the pipeline. Perhaps it is best to ask a local auto tech to show how as he does it, if he allows you to watch.
It's located back near the gas tank and is held in place by a bracket. You pull the fuel pump relay and start the car until it dies. That relieves the fuel pressure. Then you crawl under it, remove the two retaining clips, and then loosen the clamp that holds the filter in place. Remove one line at a time and insert it onto the new filter. Install the two new clips that come with the new filter and put it back in the clamp. Prepare to take a bath in gas.
- Could a clogged fuel filter cause a code P0300 to go off in my 2004 ford taurus? My engine light went on. Got it checked at autozone and P0300 came up. My fuel gauge is also going nuts. I ll put $20 in which would give me a half tank. But I ll start the car and it will be at full, then I ll start the car later that day and it will be at three quarters. It is different literally everytime I start the car… I have no idea how much gas I have.
- On a 1985 ford 302 what can cause turbulence in the fuel filter? Engine has mechanical fuel pump and carburetor Has a glass filter before the carburetor it gets lots of bubbles and turbulence in the filter also if you park on a hill with engine up the gas runs back out of the filter The engine is in a 1986 Isuzu pickup it has 3 lines from tank 1 big 2 small I have only the big one connected to mechanical fuel pump
- How much would it cost to replace a fuel filter if a shop does it? I know the filter for my truck is only $10 at AutoZone. Just wanting to know how much it could possibly cost to have a mechanic do it. 2004 ford explorer 4.6l
