Will a new exhaust actually increase horsepower and fuel economy in my 2001 ford ranger 4.0?

I'm looking at the flowmaster 40 series duel exhaust here:

Unfortunately the 4.0 v6 was a bit of a hog in the rangers not much of a power increase if any from the 2.9l v6 wich got around 27mpg verse 12-15 in the 4.0 and unfortunately changing the exhaust won't help much you might get a small probably almost unnoticeable increase really not worth the cost your best bet would be to get a e-chip which will improve your fuel milage you will lose some horse power but if you install a dry HHO kit as well you will gain most if not all the hp back and significantly bost your fuel milage that's really the only effective way I've found in the 4.0 rangers and with an HHO it you will also get better emissions to oh you could also run a water injection system that will improve fuel milage and increase horse power those rangers had a nice plenum style intake that would work well for water injection

No, no magic will make your fuel econ improve and boost HP, or the factory would have just used that exhaust system, think about it,. $100 elec turbos from eBay don't do anything either.

  • Why is my fuel economy so bad? I have a 2000 ford falcon forte petrol engine, and it's fuel is still terrible, I've had a fuel service done, a fuel treatment done, even an transmission service done. The transmission service did a hell of a difference, but it's still not fixed. The diagnostic scan came up empty, ruling out any electrical problem. What can it be?
  • Which exhaust/exhaust system would work best for my car? I own a 1970 Ford Torino (Brougham) with a 351 Cleveland engine running on stock exhaust. I want to upgrade the exhaust (I'm thinking Flowmaster) but like, does the whole exhaust system need to be done, or like half? I need your help making my baby roar lol. Please give me your best suggestions and approximate cost.
  • 2016 ford 5.0 GT Mustang fuel economy? I already drive a mustang and probably get about a weeks worth of gas before I fill up or less. Holds about 14.3 gallons to 15. The question is i'm getting a 2016 GT 5.0 manual Mustang and want to know if it will be worse or about the same, or better?
  • How to increase the horsepower and torque on my 2005 Ford Thunderbird? Well I was finally able to buy my dream car. A 2055 Ford Thunderbird which is fully loaded. It has 3.9L V8 that pushes out about 280HP. Well for a V8 we all know it can get much more than that. When I tested it out, it did a 6.4 second 0-60. I'm looking to increase the horse power to about 400. What should I have done to the car by a certified mechanic?
