Why isn't my 2003 Ford Ranger 3.0 starting?
Ok so here's the deal. My starter went out the other day while at my girlfriends house. I had to roll it's up and down her drive way she was cracking up? But anyway I went and got a new starter today and put it on and so now it still won't crank up when I turn the key and push the clutch down. I replaced the clutch safety switch thinking it was that andut was not. So then I tested the battery and charged it to make sure it was good and tested the starter to see if it was getting any juice. And it was. But I turn the key and nothing. I ark the solenoid and the starter spins but not on the fly wheel. Any ideas?
Well, apparently the starter wasn't the problem, so instead of throwing money at one possible problem after another, you should get it to a garage & let them find THE problem.
Check all the fuses. Get the battery charged and load tested. Clean or replace the battery terminals.
Key OFF or removed, put a jumper cable from B+ terminal of solenoid to battery positive. Put one end of a jumper wire from ignition terminal (terminal with smaller wire) of solenoid and with key ON (park brake on, stick in neutral), briefly touch battery positive.
1. Truck cranks and starts, starter is ok and the problem is a bad start relay, bad ignition switch or bad wiring from ignition switch to starter and/or battery to starter.
2. Starter does not crank, key OFF, put a jumper cable from battery negative to a metal part of the engine and try to start again as above. Still no crank, starter is bad. Starter cranks with the battery negative jumper cable, check the ground cable to the body and engine.
3. Starter only spins, solenoid/motor is bad.
- Why isn't my 1999 Ford Windstar heat not working? Last winter was pretty cold and I have been working to try fixing my heating problem. I took it to a shop and he said I'd have to take it to the dealer. My budget isn't that high so I replaced the blend door acuator myself and that didn't fix my problem. Not sure what to even try. My A/C works fine and air will blow out but absolutely no heat. Need Help!

- Issues with 1998 ford ranger starting? MY car will randomly not start, i pop the hood and jiggle the negative wire and it will start to work. The cable is attaced tightly to the terminal, it's the wiring leading away from the terminal I have to jiggle. I was wondering if anyone could help me with identify the problem. My car is a 1998 Ford ranger xlt.
- Ford Ranger 4.0, 172,000 miles rough idle when starting after sitting overnight or after 2-3 hours. Starts 1st crank, idles rough 1 minute? Or so and then smooths out and runs fine. New heads and gaskets. Cleaned MAF sensor, throttle body and air intake sensor, new IAC valve, new air and fuel filters, new PCV valve. No smoke coming from exhaust and No check engine light. Any ideas what's causing this rough idle?
