Why is there a grinding sound when I turn over my 94 ford ranger?
Just recently I started to notice my truck would make a terrible grinding sound when I turn over the key. After it turns on it runs perfectly fine. I haven't noticed anything else but that. I don't know what the problem could be.
Take the starter off and check the gear. You may be able to repair the starter if you do it now otherwise a ring gear may be in order which will cost plenty with installation.
Ok thanks!
- Why will my car half-crank, but not turn over? I have a 2004 ford taurus, with starting problem. Its not a no start no crank, but its also not a crank no start. Its more of a half-crank no start, and the HUD is displaying a low oil pressure reading but car is full of oil. The car does a half crank then just stalls out.
- My 2008 ford ranger Truck is making a Grinding noise when clutch is engaged/press. What are my options? I attach a youtube video of a different car making the same sound. Is my only option to replace the clutch or can it be adjusted? If anybody could link a repair manual to a 2008 ford ranger that would be awesome. I tried google and torrent sites but had no luck
- Can a low oil light cause my 1990 ford ranger to not turn over? I started my truck a few days ago and it ran descent considering i need new plugs and wires, when i tilted it over on its side (only about six inches on the driver side), it had a small oil drip, when i tried to start it today it wouldnt turn over and whenever i turned the key, the check oil light came on, will it start if i add some oil to it?
- 2001 Ford Ranger clicks once then won't turn over, and when key is turned off, it begins making a clicking relay noise under the dash? - 1 I've had this happen before, and the last couple times I just undid the battery and put it back in and it started right up. The battery has a charge, the alternator is new, and I tried jumping the battery just in case. So I know it's not that. I'm thinking it could be something in the ignition switch because sometimes I have to lift up on the shifter knob for it to register that it's in park and turn over. Any ideas?
