What's wrong with this Ford Ranger?
I have the 'check engine' light on I went to get itchecked and they gave me the code- P0457 EVAP small leak detected. ECM has detected a large leak in the EVAP System during a system monitor test. Probable cause- defective, loose or missing gas cap. - EVAP canister broke, hose cracked or not connected. Purge or vent solenoid defecti- Vacuum leak at engine. I notice a fuel odor when the truck is on and the gas mileage / MGP. Is lower then average. If I drive 45 Minutes down the freeway, the gas odometer goes down like if the gas tank had a leak. I replaced the gas cap. Which one could it be and how do I fix it? Is it expensive?
Added (1). Where is the EVAP hose & evap ccanister located? I know I can Google it but they always show different diagrams with no title… Can I do it myself or should I take it to a mechanic? I forgot to add its a 2002 Ford Ranger XLT extra cab.
Sounds to me like your evap hoses need to be replaced. Check your evap canister and replace that if it looks cracked. Either of those conditions could cause what conditions you list.
- Would a long travel suspension kit built for a Ford Ranger Edge/Sport also fit on a Ranger XLT? I found a long travel suspension kit made for a 2002 ranger edge/sport but I have a XLT same year. Would it still fit on and function the same?
- Will a 1993 3.0 Ford Ranger engine fit and work with my 1995 Ford ranger that has a bad motor? My 1995 ford ranger 3.0 5 speed ran hot and cracked the heads and spun a bearing. Will a 3.0 out of a 1993 Ford Ranger fit and work? My concerns are the 1993 has a distributor and my 1995 does not. Are the water pumps and accessories the same?
- What's wrong with my Ford Ranger? 1990 Ford Ranger 2.9L V6 4x4 Automatic. Happened overnight. One day it was running amazing, the next not so much. Symptoms: * Won't go past 55 mph * Delayed shifting * Loud sound as if air is escaping while accelerating Beyond that the truck still drives great. No smoking, overheating, nothing else at all.
- Need help figuring out what is wrong with my 1998 ford ranger? I have a 1998 ford ranger 3.0l 4wd. Anyways, I drove it home and it wouldn't start the next day. So, I checked the fuel pressure at the rail and it was 0psi. So, I pulled the bed off right quick and checked the voltage to the pump. The first pin had 5v, middle pin has 0v, and the last pin had 5v. I checked the relay and it was good… Any ideas on where else to look?
