Is my tranny dead? I have a 1996 ford ranger with an automatic trans
I've been having lots of trouble with my tranny, i have to press very lightly&go very slowly to reverse. While driving it won't shift unless i get it up to at lest 3rpm, let go of the gas until it reaches 2rpm and i feel it shift, then hit the gas again so i can speed up. The other day i got in and drove it to the gas station then to the bank. At the bank there were only spots that would require me to reverse out. I had to drive around a bit first because i guess it needed to be a little warmed up before it could reverse.so i back up into the parking spot and go into the bank for about 25 min. When i come out my battery had died. It was very cold that morning so i'm guessing that may be why it died.ihad someone jump me and i tried to put it into drive but nothing happened. The shifter moves through all the gears but the truck doesn't actually shift. Each gear has a different feel everything it shifts and there was no change. I even tried the 4x4 and that's wasn't working either(it has a certain feel and sound when i drop it in 4wheel). I have had the truck only for about 2 months.
(DESCRIPTION CONTINUED)the guy who had it before took very poor car of it. Both oils are way too overfilled and the trans fluid is extremely old and burnt. It's been stuck at the bank and i plan on buying a new car this week but i'm not sure if i should scrap my truck or not? Is there anything that i should try to get my truck to shift? Could changing the fluid help at all? I googled the problem and tried the following: checking brake lights to make sure it's not the wires. It's not. Disconnecting and reconnecting battery. Turning key to "on" position, putting truck in nuetral, turning over then putting it on drive. Still nothing. I had it running for over 2 hours to see if heating or up would help but nope.
Transgender people arent objects
That is very sad to hear! So young
Time to scrap it.
Let me use small words so that even you could understand… Your car is BROKEN! GO GET IT FIXED!
You bought a car with a bad tranny. Just face it. Get the tranny fixed.
- Have 98 Ford Ranger, 4.0, 171,000 miles, auto trans with limited slip. I've owned truck since new and have changed trans fluid every 30-35 000 miles and have never towed anything. The majority of the 171,000 miles are interstate driving. The truck shifts fine with no jerking or slippage. What I do get is thump(s) in rear end when I come to a stop, as gears are downshifting. Do I need a new transmission? Any suggestions? I suppose it's a "clunk" I hear and feel when I come to a stop, not a thump.
- Ford ranger trans lost reverse and 1st? I have a 1999 3.0 v6 automatic ranger. It does not go in to reverse or drive you have to put It into drive 2 and then when you get up to around 20 mph you can put it into normal drive and it works fine. Can I rebuild it. What kind of rebuild kit do I need. How much do you Think it'll cost. What kind of trans do I have. And what other kind of trans will fit in this truck. If I can't rebuild it
- 1999 ford ranger trans want shift. And light blinking? My transmission want shift out its a 99 ford ranger 4.0 4wd it seems to shift into first and second rough but and shift into thrid when its cold but when warm it want shift into third and the fluid smells burnt
- Manual transmission vs Automatic Transmission: what tranny is good for truck pull Tug of war? I found a 1997 Ford F-350 crew cab long bed Powerstroke Diesel. It has a 5-speed manual and I was going to do truck pulls (truck Tug of war) at a mud bogging show. What is a good transmission for Truck tug of war manual vs automatic?
