Ford Ranger problems 2004?
The truck won't drive, when i go to shift gears it won't go into gear. I'm thinking its the transmission but i'm not sure. Any ideas? Could it be the throw out bearing?
Added (1). It's a manual.
It's the transmission
Transmission - and don't keep trying to get it to go as the broken part might come up and do extensive damage. Now you may just have a dowel pin broken.
Most likely cause is a problem with the hydraulic clutch system. First check the fluid level to see if there's a leak. If the level is not low suspect the clutch master cylinder first as its the easiest to replace. Save to slave cylinder for last as its an expensive job to replace. The throw-out bearing usually gives notice when its going out by making lots of noise, only when the pedal is depressed.
Its a hydraulic system so either a problem with the master or slave cylinder. Next to the brake fluid tank you'll find the fill for the transmission fluid it uses brake fluid also if low refill and try it. If it works then either the master or slave is no good. If the slave is the problem the transmission will have to come out for that to be replaced. Find local shop at ATRA.COM for more help

- Shifting problems and intake problems? I drive a 1997 ford ranger with a 2.3l automatic. I have recently experienced a hard shifting in my truck even when I'm not on the gas it has problems shifting. And I cleaned my air filter and filter hose that goes to my throttle body and there was transmission fluid in the hose. What can be causing this and how can I fix it or how much will it cost roughly?
- Can a ford ranger safely sustain speeds of 85-90 mph without any problems at all? I'm looking for a pickup truck that can haul stuff and is good for driving off roaming occasionally but I also what a pickup that has good performance as well. - Any problems with a 2003 ford ranger edge 4x4? I'm looking at one with 160 thousand miles. It has a rebuilt transmission so that s already a plus. Its a v6 automatic though. I heard that the tranny for the v6 is better than the 4. I'm also concerned that its a 4x4. Is that reliable in that vehicle? It seems to rum really well with tons of kick it d be an awesome truck for me to get started in as an electrician. Any tips, warning signs, things to look out for etc would be much appreciated.
