Do I have a manual or power steering gear box?
I have a 1991 Ford Ranger and I have a lot of play in my steering and it's been sticking. How do I tell if I have a manual or power steering gear box?
Could be either if its a 4 cyl but if you don't have a power steering pump frt of engine its a manual if its a v6 you have power steering
Try to turn the steering wheel with just the steering lock off and the motor not going, it will be very hard, stat the motor immediately it should be easy to turn even will one hand, so that proves it is power steering. You do not even. Have to move the car to do that.
Look for the power steering pump.
I don't think Ford sells anything in the US that doesn't have power steering.
