Can i sue? Sold me a car and lied on the craigslist ad?

So the story is, i got in a car accident and my vehicle was totalled so i got a check from the insurance agency for about 2000 dollars. I was looking for cars for about a week on craigslist looking for low mileage stick shift trucks. I find 3 ford rangers; 1 had 81,000 miles, one had 103,000 miles and the third had 106,00 miles. So i go to the seller with the ranger with 103k and i like how the car looks and drives and i decide to buy that one. I get home and look at the odometer and it didn't move since i had left the mans house. So i call the guy up and he said it had broken on him and he bought the truck at 92,000 miles. Which means he knew the truck did not have 103,000 miles and he told me knew that after i bought it? Is there anything i can do?

I live in Florida and when I sold a car I had to sign a statement on the title saying the mileage was correct or not. And, if not correct, the reason for the discrepancy was given. Is your title similar?

That is a tough situation
You should consult a lawyer
Part is buyer beware and part is the seller should inform the buyer of any defects.
It all depends where you live and what laws are stronger

Nope. You bought the car "as is". You have no recourse against the seller.

Yea it says exempt on the title i noticed it all this morning when i went to register it

Any used vehicle is sold "as is" unless noted to the contrary in writing. If you took him to court, he could easily shrug his shoulders and say he didn't know. You have to prove he did and that he intentionally misled you… And "he had to know" doesn't cut it in front of a judge.

As mentioned in my comment, a police officer won't get involved. This is a civil matter, no crime was committed.

If the truck is over 10 years old its EXEMPT from reporting requirements.

Sure, you can sue but you won't win. It was something you could & should have checked prior to buying it.

"As is, where is." Deal with it.

No.Used cars are sold as is. Even at a dealership.Unless there's an implied warranty.

  • Why doesn't a prosecutor charge Kavanaugh and Ford with perjury, because one lied under oath? Then after their lawyers call witnesses and each pleads their case, let a court of law with a jury of peers decide which has committed perjury? Then the FBI could do a investigation, real, thorough and unlimited and they could each take a lie detector test from a same unbiased testing source
  • Should Ford motor company sue Christine Ford for $1B and garnish her wages for life? I mean their good name will forever more be associated with unreliability. Instead of "Ford Tough" they'll be known as "Ford Flake".
  • Why won't my 1996 Ford Mustang sell on Craigslist? I have a 1996 Ford Mustang 5 speed manual v6 with brand new clutch and only 1996 miles on it I got a couple buying but everyone offers me like 1 grand for it and it's like are you serious I'm trying to sell it because I'm 18 years old and want to buy a 1993-1997 Nissan 240SX so I can build a drift car.
  • Can i sue an independent auto painter? Took my car to some guy that paints cars. I asked to paint it same color instead i think he only put the clear stuff that shines on it. I have an 03 ford mustang he messed up my side emblems which are the main decoration on the car. He keeps giving me the run around about fixing my car. And i already had paid him for the paint which he did not buy or use and half of labor what are my chances on filing a claim
