What's the biggest engine I can fit into a 2004 Ford Ranger Edge 2D that currently has a 3.0 V6?
I d like to turn my Ford Ranger into a drag truck worthy of the strip, what kind of engine can I put into her to make her wheelie Everytime I slam the gas?
Putting anything larger than a 6 cylinder will require replacing the ECU, engine harness and related harnesses. There are not even injector connectors for more than six cylinders and that ECU only knows how to fire six… It won't run an 8 at all.
In the end, you can't make it wheelie. The transfer of weight is all wrong - the rear tires will spin and not much will happen.
Put a 454 init get the gas axe out and make it fit
My oldest son runs with a crowd that puts a 5.9L cummings in anything that needs more power. One of them even has a 'vette with a 5.9L in it. %^&*() off the 'vette guys when they see it, and when they get smoked by it.
Stick with V6 blocks because that fits in the space. It will NEVER WHEELIE UNLESS YOU STICK A BUNCH OF LEAD weights in the back, then you have no steering.
You can drop in a $12,000.00 boss 607 cu in, ut you will need to change everything else like the transmission and rear end for starters.To get it to wheelie, you will need to replace all the front and rear suspension. For about $50,000.00, you can be respectable at the drag strip and do wheelies.
