1994 Ford ranger intermittent no start and rough idle/ no power?
1994 Ford ranger intermittent no start and rough idle/ no power?
Hi so the question is what do you expect from a 20 year old car which has been used and abused in 20 years. It will need a lot of spare parts and a lot of work to get it up together.
First things I'd do are to clean both the IAC and throttle body with a spray can of carb cleaner. Remove and clean the battery cable connections from the battery to the solenoid and the engine ground on the negative cable. If they haven't been replaced in a long time, replace the rotor, distributor cap, plug wires and spark plugs. Don't over look the fuel filter, air filter too. None of these suggestions are expensive but all can contribute to the symptoms you describe, I own a '94 with 137+ on the clock so I'm not quite as critical as the Bears. It always helps to know which engine we're talking about but in this case the suggestions would apply to all three that were available on the '94s.
- 2007 Ford Taurus rough idle and dies of I don't put my foot on the gas? I have a 2007 Ford Taurus that has a very rough idle but once I get to 30 miles per hour or so everything is fine. Since this started my battery is always dead when I go to start my car. I've replaced the ignition coil and the wires cause autozone said that was the problem. But it still is acting the same way. The car dies when in idle and I don't know what else to do. Any help is appreciated.
- Why does my Ford Ranger start rough idle when engine is hot? I have a 2002 Ford Ranger XLT 4X4 with 4.0 litre SOHC engine, it starts good when cold, but I get a rough idle start when the truck was already used and heated up. Engine diagnostics show nothing, I changed the air filter a month ago, changed platinum plugs and plug wires last year, regular oil and filter changes been done. I'm running out of ideas on the cause of this rough idle. Any suggestions, please answer.
- Ford Ranger 4.0, 172,000 miles rough idle when starting after sitting overnight or after 2-3 hours. Starts 1st crank, idles rough 1 minute? Or so and then smooths out and runs fine. New heads and gaskets. Cleaned MAF sensor, throttle body and air intake sensor, new IAC valve, new air and fuel filters, new PCV valve. No smoke coming from exhaust and No check engine light. Any ideas what's causing this rough idle?
