Problem With Ford Mondeo 2.2 TDCI ST?
I Have Not long since bought this car and it has begun to make a grinding or rattle noise when I apply the clutch mainly when stationary or setting of in 1st gear. Problem does not seem to happen when i'm on the move so much.
if I press the clutch slightly when stationary its very noisy grind. If I apply it fully noise is still there but not quite as loud.
any idea I would appreciate, my 1st thought was the dual mass flywheel but I don't want to pay for this if i'm way off the mark.
Why wouldn't it just be a worn out clutch?
That's a common issue. The clutch release bearing is worn. They get noisy but usually last a long time. It's not worth replacing the bearing alone as the labour is the same to fit a new clutch.
Thank you for your reply. I forgot to mention that the noise is still made even if I'm sat in neutral. Does this make a difference.
The clutch "throw-out bearing" is worn out and needs to replace which requires the transmission to be removed. The part is cheap but since that is an expensive job due to the amount of labor required you should get the clutch disk and pressure plate replaced at the same time. Expect to pay £650 to £750 at an independent garage and £850 to £950 at a dealership.
Worn out clutch throwout bearing, it's time for some pricy shop service to get the new one installed.
Usually that noise is caused by a clutch throw out (release) bearing but dual mass clutches have been know to cause all kinds of noises also. If it were my car I'd plan on pulling it out and replacing both; the bearing and clutch but I would use a single mass kit if available.
- What oil grade does a 2005 Ford Transit TDCi 135 T350 take? Can't see any clear answer online for what oil grade this transit takes… Some people say 10w/40 and some say 5w/30! Just needs to know how much the sumps and and what exact oil it has! Plus if it needs to be semi or fully symthetic!
- Car acceleration problem and idle problem. The car is a 2003 Ford Taurus? . When the car is running and in parked its making a loud consisted rev noise. However the rpm needle thingy is not moving. when i'm in drive the car acclerates on its own with the speed ever increasing. i did some googling and learned that it can be the TPS sensor or the idle air intake valve, among a million other possiblities.
- I have a ford mondeo that had broken down. I called AA and they ran it through their computer and it said fuel sensor problem. I went to a? Garage and they replaced the fuel sensor. I drove up the street and the car broke down again. Plugged it in at the garage and it said fuel sensor fault. The garage then took that fuel sensor out and put it back in the car it was from and it was working. What could be the problem?
- I'm looking for the speedo sensor on a 1.6 TDCI Ford Focus? I have to change it following various error codes relating to it (P0500 mainly). I have bought a replacement but can't find where it goes, mainly due to limited under car space, I know it's a fiddly change but easily a DIY. I'm a skinflint you see.
