My new battery is draining too fast in my car, why this?
My battery and alternator in my ford probe is new but it drains really fast after I drink only a few times but when I read online it says that I should be able to crank for 10 minutes I crank for far less than 10 minutes in the battery dies. What could cause it to die fast? There's no parasitic drain. Could the starter be bad, drawing too much amps
Your battery should never drain if you have a good battery and a working alternator, unless you have a parasitic drain or your car doesn't start and you keep cranking.
- Car battery putting out too much power? So I have a 1991 Ford ranger. Up until today everything has been fine it has a rebuilt engine and a ton if new parts. The battery is an optima red top. The truck has a voltage meter but the person I bought it from put in a custom console that has a digital voltage display. Usually it reads around 12.5 volts sometimes more sometimes less. But today it's reading around 14.3 volts and the needle on the gauge moved up past what would be considered normal. Any ideas what could be causing this?
- Drove over hill too fast and car is making a thumping noise? I have a 2003 ford focus. Today I was driving and went to make a turn fast and went up a hill and it hit my car and made a loud noise. When pulled up my car started making a thumping noise I thought that it was the tire but when I popped the good and accelerated while in drive the engine was moving up it's still running fine but moving and making a thump when accelerating. What could be wrong with it please help.
- Coolant draining from parked car but no leak identified? I drive a 2002 Ford Focus. I've been noticing my coolant draining fairly quickly, and my car has come close to overheating a couple times. I took it to a shop, who told me 3 times there was no leak, and that the issue was with the fan. Is this normal or should I try another shop?
- New alternator and battery but battery still won't charge in my ford explorer 93? My battery wouldnt charge So i just replaced my alternator a few days ago knowing it would fix the problem. It appears that the alternator was not the problem. I've got a brand new alternor and when i check the battery(running car), it just stays on 12.5V and doesn't go up. I tried using it yesterday and it just drained out on me. I tried 3 good batteries already and checked if they charge in my car but they don't. Oh, the alternator came with a volt regulator.
