My 1965 Ford F100 truck backfires while driving. Is it because I'm putting regular gas rather then premium gas? I have a 390 V8 in it?

Rnaybe you should have a rnechanic look at your car
Check the ignition timing. Is it a true backfire (exploding up through the carburetor) or explosions in the exhaust? The former will often damage the carburetor. The latter could be a fuel mixture that's too rich or a missing cylinder that's putting raw fuel in the exhaust. If you have a Holley carburetor, replace the thing called a power valve inside the float bowl.
No, carburetor is running lean
If it backfires through the intake manifold the ignition timing is too far advanced or you have bad intake valves.
If it backfires out the exhaust the exhaust valves may be bad.
Gasoline isn't causing it.
Its because your truck is unreliable. 40 years ago most of those trucks rusted away or they were unreliable and most of them were crushed. That's why they are so rare and "collectible"
- I found some debris while rebuilding my ford 390? I'm about halfway through rebuilding my ford 390 out of my '70 Galaxie. I find plenty of little metal chips in the greasy soup inside. But I also found something which surprised me. It looks like long, tiny coil springs. And there's a whole bunch of them circulated everywhere inside of the motor. Where did these little springs come from?
- Is the 1995 Chevy s10's regular cab bigger than the 1996 Ford Ranger's regular cab? I always heard that Chevy trucks have more cab room than old Ford trucks. I'm just thinking if a Chevy s10's regular cab is bigger then the Ford Ranger's regular cab. What's bigger and gives you more space? What smaller and hardly gives you any space?

- Must I put premium gas in my 1965 Ford F100 390 V8 or can i put regular gas? I was told that it needs premium gas and premium gas only. But the guy who I bought the truck from said it was a myth and it takes regular gas. What gas does my Ford F100 390 v8 engine take?!
