1965 ford mustang AND 1965 CORVAIR?
I HAVE A SUMMER PROJECT TO DO AND I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE FOLLOWING CARS
1965 FORD MUSTANG
1965 CORVAIR
IF POSSIBLE, CAN YOU GIVE ME LINKS TO WEBSITES THAT WILL GIVE ME INFO ABOUT THESE CARS
I NEED TO KNOW THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION OF BOTH CARS:
HEIGHT
WIDTH
LENGTH
HORSEPOWER
WEIGHT
FUEL TANK CAPACITY
WHEEL SIZE
SELLING PRICE
Assuming you can afford a 1965 mustang that would definitely be the better choice over the corvair. Both from a value standpoint and restoration standpoint since they repro just about everything for those cars versus the corvair which will probably be pretty hard to find parts for.
However if you need all the basic inof then why not just google "1965 mustangs specs" or "1965 mustang dimensions" cause it's SERIOUSLY not really something you should need other people to do for you (if you're SUPPOSEDLY so interested in these cars).
Though if you want some more info on them try http://www.mustangspecs.com/years/64-65.shtml
Despite what most people say, corvair parts ARE still around. But it does take a bit of internetting to find them.
the true covair enthusiasts repower them with the 350 chev mid mounted.
the options on the 65 were 250ci 6 cylinder or 289 (windsor) v8 yes the interchange with the 302 (different bore and stroke) as virgin bore 289s are getting thin on the ground now. And 3 speed manual or c4 automatic
Specifications for 1965 Corvair and Mustang are available here:

And you can note that the wheelbase of both is 108", and the price of the 2 door coupe Corvair Monza $2297 is nearly the same as the base 2 door notchback Mustang 6 cyl, $2372 and both may be had with 6.5x13 tires as a base size. The Corvair though air cooled is barely 50 lbs lighter than the water cooled mustang.
Factors not listed here that are important are Weight Distribution.
The Mustang with a front mounted V8 has more weight on the front wheels. In case of poor traction, front wheels skid first and it understeers which is considered predictable and safe behavior, it doesn't steer and plows into whatever is in front.
The Corvair has a rear mounted engine, the weight bias is more toward the rear wheels. In case of poor traction, the rear wheels skid first, which means that driven abusively the corvair will oversteer and possibly spin out. Experienced drivers will consider this behavior more desirable, more like a Porsche for example, but inexperienced drivers may be caught by surprise and get into more complicated collisions, and this is the feature Ralph Nader was referring to in "Unsafe at any speed".
- How much would it cost to maintain (annually) a 1965 Ford Mustang? I'm planning to purchase a 1965 Mustang. The one I'm looking at is mechanically sound, and in very good overall condition. I will probably drive it 5K-7K miles/yr. I don't work on vehicles myself so it will have to go to a mechanic for service. Can anyone give me a rough estimate?
- Could Ford manufacture a replica 1965 Mustang if I had the money for it? I ask because I'm not sure if there are laws that prohibit car makers to produce vehicles that don't meet modern safety standards.
- 1965 Mustang Vs 2014 Subaru WRX? OK, which would win in a race a Supercharged 1965 Mustang (roots style) Blower 347 Stroker Dynoed 600+hp 3 Speed/reverse manual trans. W/brake 4600 Stahl converter Ford 9inch 430 gear Moser axles Or a basic stock 2014 subaru wrx which has 268 horsepower I believe. Straight drag strip 1 mile
