What is The Best Rear End For a 85 Mustang?
I'm Replacing my Drive train rear end and i wanna know what is the best gear ratio rear in to get. I've heard about the ford 8.8 but i wanna be sure that the best one for Strip Racing.
Overall would be 3.45 with your 5th gear overdrive at 0.75 gives decent mpg and good acceleration. To get better acceleration use the 3.73
What trans do you have? If automatic, how much stall speed do you have? A lot of people like the 4.10's until they pair them with a 3.35 Low geared five-speed and end up with First gear so low that it's almost useless.
- Will 1984 - 1995 corvette posi rear end hold up to 700 HP? Or can you get parts to beef a corvette rear end? I have heard that years ago street racers used to put a Ford Couger rear end in Chevy because the individual axles made it better for handling, so I thought I would check into using a corvette rear end assembly in a rat rod with 700 HP.
- Chirping noise in rear end of my truck? I have a 1990 Ford ranger xlt V6 4.0 l truck. When I start to drive I heear a chirping noise and as I speed up its gets louder, but then goes away an then it will ride rough… Like it's vibrating. The u-joints seem ok an shaft does too.can't figure what's doing it.
- 2007 Ford Ranger rear end jerks on acceleration after a downshift at about 20 MPH? 2007 Ford Ranger 28,000 miles, 8.8" Rear axle 3:18 gears auto trans. Every now and then when I accelerate from around 20 MPH and the truck downshifts there's a small jerk in the rear end a second after the downshift. Is this normal? I just bought the truck and never had RWD before. If someone knows what the problem is that would be awesome!
- Is my 9 inch rear end limited slip? I have a ford 9 inch in my 72 4x4 truck. When I jack it up and spin the driver's side wheel, the drive shaft turns but the passenger side wheel does not. If I turn the passenger side wheel, the drive shaft turns but the driver's side wheel does not. If I turn the drive shaft by hand, only the passenger side wheel turns. Since both wheels turn the drive shaft, does this mean I have posi? If so, why don't the wheels turn each other when I turn one?
