What is consider high millage on a mustang?
I been searching for a mustang between 1985-1996 and I'm wondering how long do these ford engine run for before they wear down 80k 90k 100k 150k?
If you're buying a used "performance" car, 20-30 years old, the odometer reading is totally useless.
The problem is that you don't know how much racing, or even "performance' driving, any Mustang has seen. You're taking a chance, no matter what's on the odometer.
20K miles "rode hard and put away wet" can add as much wear and tear as 100K miles, driven sensibly.
I would say 100k+
Why?
That's one of the advantages of the Mustang's front-engine rear-drive platform - You & two friends could drop-in a 'new' engine & be home for dinner. So the real $$$ is in the interior & the body. If the interior is complete & clean, & the body sheet metal is straight, start negotiating…
- Why does my car rev high all the time and drive without me touching the gas? It revs at stop lights and when sitting idle at drive throughs, and when I'm driving highway speed. It'll rev up to almost 3000 rpms especially in idle. It is a ford Taurus 2005 with 99,700 mi on it.
- What kid of car should I consider? Chrysler 200 Dodge Dart Jeep Patriot Chevrolet Malibu Ford Focus Ford Fusion I'm a really big Chrysler fan so allot of my attention is drawn to those cars, but I also feel obligated to look into GM and Ford.
- Pennzoil High Mileage vs Castrol GTX High Mileage? My local auto store has 5 quarts of Pennzoil High Mileage for 16.99, but 5 quarts of Castrol GTX High Mileage on sale for 9.99$. Which one is better, or does it not even matter and I should just get the cheaper one? It's going in a 2002 Ford Focus ZTS with 155*** miles on it.
- Would you consider the ford focus a muscle car or an import/tuner? My friend and I were arguing about this for a while. He says its a FORD so it has to be a muscle car. I said it has no characteristics of a muscle car.
