Should i look at upgrading the torque converter when i upgrade my driveline?

I have a ford transmission with a 4.6L v8 and i'm upgrading my rear to 3.73 and a LSD with an aluminium driveshaftt. Should i research upgrading the torque converter as well. I'm looking to install a super charger next year and i want to make sure the drive train will complement it as best as possible

2000 grand marquis GS

don't worry about all the other upgrades, i just need to know if ii should upgrade the torque converter with the rest of the driveline.

i want my grandma to take out mustangs on the quarter mile

With your rear gears set that high it would make sense to get a Stall Converter and a Trans Brake installed on it. You have to do your homework. Google up Stall Converter and Transmission Brake, and talk to a Trans shop tech about doing the setup for a street car. Listen to what they tell you, because there are practical limits for street legal setups. But pound for pound if you want drag strip performance that does not kill your transmission this is the only real way to go.

Do you know a supercharger will cost around 6 THOUSAND dollars installed?

You can build your motor to put out 4 or 5 hundred HP for a lot less than that.

Put in a stroker kit, do some head work, headers, intake, tune it and go racing.

Hi so here we have a really NOOB without any doubt. Old cars and old engines are not ever going to do anything except become a bucket of bits cleaned up of the highway.
so that is what will happen.

I think you need in order
Roll cage
High back seats with 4 point harness belts
Brake and suspension upgrades.

In standard form this is not a good handling truck. With all this power you have a good chance of rolling it. That can kill you.

  • 2003 ford taurus 208k miles torque converter went out what to do? So i'm being charged $1300 to get it replaced and there's no pressure from thr torque converter will my tranny go out soon or what will happen? I'm ar 208k miles this car is a 9.5/10 body wise and engine wise so i don't know if i should get the tranny rebuilt too or should the tranny be good if its already made it very close to 209k miles?
  • Pros and cons of upgrading alternator? I have a 99 ford crown Vic and it's about time to change my alternator. My last question about 2 weeks ago explains everything. But a stock alt for my car is 135 amps. I'm thinking of getting a 220 amp high output alternator to also support my stereo systems. There no other alternator just 135amp and 220amp. I'm just wondering will that produce too much power or no?
  • Upgrading mustang v6 2017's exaust/mufflers So, I got a new mustang v6 2017 and I heard that you can upgrade the exaust to make it sound like v8. So, my question is how muc does it cost to buy a new one and getting it installed? Any cheaper ones out there with some decent quality? Does upgrading exaust/mufflers drops mileage? Does it drops horsepower? Does it impacts the engine anyways? Does it has any impacts on its 5year free warranty by ford?
  • I have $3,500 to upgrade my '11 Mustang GT. What should I get? I've got about $3,500 to upgrade my 2013 Mustang GT. I was thinking about getting Brembo brakes and Ford Racing Catback exhaust. Any other suggestions? Title is meant to say '13, not '11. I typed too fast on my phone.
