Should I get a 2001 ford mustang gt convertible?
This would be my first car I'm 17. I was looking online and I saw it for $2,400 which I think is a good price. I saw some mixed opinions about this car. That it's not great when it comes to driving in the winter but it's possible. I live in NJ and where I live it's very hilly. I'm mainly worried about how well it performs in the winter and how likely it is to break down. I'm mainly using the car to drive, to school and games. Also if you have other car suggestions that's great to. I just want this because it's a convertible and affordable.
The car itself may be affordable, but everything that goes along with it changes that and really just makes this whole thing a bad idea!
First off INSURANCE will be ridiculously high given your age and lack of experience, and the fact the car is a mustang.
Second it's pretty well known in most automotive circles that light RWD cars DO NOT do well in places where it snows/rains a lot, but you add the term CONVERTIBLE to the mix and it actually makes it even worse.
I mean convertibles have a few drawbacks to start with… Weight, air/water leaks around top, easy to break into, etc. But one of the biggest pains with them is that the top have a limited lifespan where you usually have to replace every few years or so (and they're not cheap to buy or install). But you add long exposure to bad weather (like snow) and odds are it will just mean they will wear out even faster… Plus as I said they do not seal very well so in the winter you will probably not be very comfortable.
Honeslty I would say pass on this and get something else and maybe save the vert mustang for a time later on when insurance isn't so high and you can afford to have it AND a 2nd car for winter driving… Or move CA/FL, lol
Pass on the convertible. At your age i know your going to want to put some boom boom speaker in it and the rag top is to easy to just cut open and steal your stuff
Talk to an insurance agent first… Your insurance could cost more than the car.
- Where is the phone speaker for a bluetooth on a 2010 Ford Mustang convertible? I have a 2010 mustang and I can't find the phone speaker inside my 2010 ford mustang. I have seen where it is in other convertibles but can't find it in mine. And ppl are having trouble hearing me.
- Too Good to be true? 1997 Ford Mustang Convertible? I'm interested in buying a 1997 6 Cylinder Ford Mustang Convertible for $1500. The car runs very cleanly and it has like approx. 136,000 miles on it. The only problem is that it has been sitting in the sellers backyard for like 5 years. Could it sitting for that length of time have caused any major malfunctions that should prevent me from buying it? The seller has also said that the car has a new transmission if that helps any.
- Is a 2016 Ford Mustang Premium Convertible for $16,999 a good deal? The one concern I have is the mileage. It's at 73,564. Is that too high for a sports/ muscle car? It has been with two owners. Advice please?
- 2001 Ford Mustang Convertible top motor? I have a 2001 Ford Mustang Convertible, the top goes down slowly but does not go up at all. How can I figure out if the motor needs to be replaced or I just need to bleed it. Or, if it some other part that needs to be repaired/replaced.
