Re-Painting hood of my car?
I own a 2000 Ford mustang that is electric green, the previous owner (who is my friend) got into a front end accident by hitting a deer on his way home from work. Anyways his insurance paid for the damages done, but when the collision repair shop repainted it about after a week the paint started to bubble and the clear coat is chipping. My dad who was a professional mechanic/painter for 30 years said they left it out in the hot sun before it was finished drying, he won't help me on this project he's pissed that I bought the car. Anyways I need to know how much primer/paint/clear coat I need and maybe the cost of everything just to paint the hood of the car. I plan on doing 2 coats primer, 2 or 3 coats paint, and 3 coats of the clear coat.
Plan on picking a lot of bugs and dirt out of the paint if you don't have a spray booth.
Don't do it yourself, get a pro please, I don't want to sound like a jerk so please don't take it personal.
Get hold of the insurance company that paid the claim and have them put pressure on the paint shop to fix it. When they pay for repairs there's a reasonable expectation for them to be done right.
If you can't even figure out how much paint you need, you're way to dumb to do a good paint job.
Hi so i'm not surprised your father is pissed with you. Add to this it is not a do it yourself job as well. It needs specialised lacquers and a special spray booth as the chemicals are toxic. So the guy doing the spraying has a suit which has air pumped to him whilst he is doing this spraying. So that is why you can't do it yourself. As for the car why buy an old wreck that is 17 years old. As it is well past being a useful car.
Why should you do it? Why not make the shop do it over? Crazy that you would not force them to redo it under warranty after 1 week!
Stupid, just buy a Prius. It's good on mileage so it will save you a lot of money. Stop trying to be flashy by reprinting some useless and cheap car
- Should i use primer when painting a gray bumper trim? I recently bough "rust-oleum trim and bumper paint" to paint the trim on my bumper. The trik on my bumper is like a dull gray color. Should I use black primer on it or should i just spray the pain on? I heard it peels without the primer and i want a dee black look to match my truck. (2005 ford ranger xlt)
- Painting my chrome bumper black? I have a 2005 ford ranger XLT the bumper in the front is chrome and there's a chrome piece in the back as well. I used "rust-oleum bumper paint" to paint the trim of the truck and it is really really good and a nice deep black. I want the same thing on the chrome. Can you walk me through the steps of what id need to get to do it? I want it a similar color to my truck ( glossy black ) i'm blacking the truck out.
- Cost of painting a bumper on a 2003 Mustang? I've got a 2003 Ford Mustang with a busted up front bumper cover. I can get a new cover for about $100, but I want to know what it might cost to paint it? I know the paint I need is pretty expensive, it's the "Redfire" paint
- Humming Noise coming from under the hood. Any ideas? I have a 2008 Ford Fusion SE 4 Cylinder with 78,000 miles on it. When I accelerate I hear a humming noise coming from the front. The higher the RPM's the louder it gets. The sound begins after 1000 RPM's. I sat it and parked it and put my foot on the gas pedal and went up to 4,000 RPMS and it sounded like a siren you would hear in the movies for like code red or something I don't know. I have no idea what it may be. Answers would be very much appropriated.
