Is this normal for my mustang to do this?

Have a 2013 ford mustang v6 with about 38k miles. Automatic. When i'm driving lets say in a parking lot I let off the gas and the engine rpms kinda stay right where they were before I let off. They do get lower very slowly. But when I hit tye brake they lower alot obviously. Is this normal for the rpms to stay arounf where they were before letting off? Also if i'm coasting downhill at very low speeds like 20 mps I will hear the rpms surging up and down by about 200 rpm
Also i'm hearing a rear end clunk when accelerating from a stop or roll. The ford tech said its differential backlash and its normal by why would it be clunking?

1) that's sort of how all cars behaved back in the dark ages of emissions controls: the throttle closed slowly to give the engine a chance to burn-off pollutants. It should have a computer diagnosis if it's severe or a new problem.

2) I had a 2007 'Stang GT… I was thrilled when I got it and saw that the automatic is made in France (the French being widely regarded as second only to the Brits in designing cars of limited function) … The transmission banged and lurched into each gear… The rear axle whined… The driveline clunking through it all. My dealer also said that everything was normal.

3) I sold mine with 2600 miles on it at a $8000 loss.

It is normal for many cars to behave that way. Automatic… Cruise at the current speed, and slightly slow down. They don't slow down right away, they don't respond quickly to acceleration or deceleration unless you cause friction - the brake to enter the picture.

The clunk is when the drive train engages or disengages as it is not actively engaged while coasting. Yes, it is quite normal. The newer versions are not anything like the older versions of the vehicle - of course, that is obvious, with improved fuel economy, required by government meddling in emissions, etc.

A loud clunk isn't normal. The backlash may be too great. Without driving the car, I can't really comment on the engine RPM issue. If the car feels like it's decelerating before you apply the brakes, then I don't think you have a problem.

  • Why did some normal car models have so few made? I'm talking about like a normal car that would be sold to citizens. Like a ford or something. Where it's rare to see the car just because it didn't have that much models of it made?
  • This isn't normal but nobody knows what it is? I drive a 2002 Ford Foucus SE with 2.0 spi. My car will downshift randomly but only when the ac is on. When the ac is on my interior and exterior ;ights flicker, and my engiene idles at about 450-500 rpm. I have replaced the idle air control valve, ecm, ac compressor, alternator and battery. I'm very unsure of what this could be. I took the car to ford for a full point inspection and to have the car scanned. They said nothing showed.
  • Is it normal to have to fill the gas tank of a 2000 ford Taurus se every week? Don't laugh. I'm ignorant about cars and this is my first one. I own a 2000 Taurus station wagon. I drive 6 miles to work and 6 miles back every day and don't drive many other places than that. I live in the city. I'm filling my tank every week and my boyfriend says that's way too much. He says I should replace the spark plugs. Would he be correct?
  • Oil gauge randomly drops to 0 and back to normal? 2001 ford ranger 90, xxx miles While driving my oil guage will randomly drop to 0 and my check guage light comes on, it only drops to 0 for maybe a couple of seconds and goes back to normal. When i'm accelerating and my rpms r high you can hear an irregular revving. I'm at a loss as to what this could be, and it does sound concerning as it is messing with my revving
