Is it a good Idea to take a Ford Mustang on long trips?
So I really like Ford Mustangs, I don't really care that much about fuel economy, and I don't care much about handling, either. But If I get one, would I be able to go on rather long trips (through the rocky mountains, British Columbia-Alberta for example) with it? Or would that be a bad Idea? I know that the engine is rather powerful (If I get one, it'll probably be a V6), and can probably dominate the bumps and steep roads and all that, but what about the gas? I know its not the most fuel efficient car, but would I have enough gas to make the trip (s)? Would I be spending too much on gas? If you think all this is a bad Idea, please recommend a car that will be good for trips (and driving around the city and everyday stuff as well.
In your first sentence you talk about not caring that much about fuel economy, only to turn around and ask if it would be a bad idea to take a mustang based on fuel economy…
the v6 mustang doesn't really get that bad of fuel economy. But I would personally never buy a v6 mustang because… Well why get a muscle car with a small engine in it? Just doesn't make sense to me. That's like going to McDonald's for a salad.
Mustang's handle just fine, and there are tons of cars that drive over the rocky mountains with smaller engines in them so "needing power" isn't really an issue. A Honda civic would make the trip just fine.
A mustang is NOT a good car for the snow, so if you anticipate that you will be using this car in the snow, I would say it is a bad idea. If you will be taking more than one other person with you on any trip, then I would say that the mustang is probably a bad idea also.
If fuel efficiency is actually somewhat important to you (and as gas prices go up over the years i'm sure it will become important) then I would suggest that you look into getting a car that would be good on gas. If you are driving it in the snow, then I would suggest that you also look at getting a car that is AWD or Front wheel drive as they generally do much better in winter driving and are less likely to spin out.
If you just want a fun toy and actually don't care about gas mileage, get a mustang, and get a V8.
Otherwise, Honda Civic (2-door if you want sporty), Nissan Altima or Maxima, maybe a Chevy Impala or Malibu if you want a medium sized car. A Subaru Impreza if you want a cool AWD car that's good on gas. Ford focus would be an excellent choice too.
consider maintenance if you will be driving a lot you want cars that are easy and cheap to fix. Pick a car you see a lot of. They are usually cheap to fix if they are popular.
As vague and confused as you seem to be about what you actually want out of the car.
I will say if you live anywhere where it rains/snows a lot DON'T get a mustang. Otherwise, as far as MPG goes it can depend a bit not only what engine you get but on what year/gen you get… Since you can get a modern one w/ a V6, some older mustangs even have a 4-cyl
Though that said pre-2011 you can pretty much count on them NOT being very powerful (especially the 4-cyl… At least until the 2015 comes out)
we can only point you in a the direction what we think you might want… At least until you figure it out and then come back with a more specific question.
If you don't care about fuel economy, or handling, why care what we think?
Those aren't as bad on gas as their V8 counterparts but it's not the best out their either. Plus you couldn't (or shouldn't) take it offroad and they aren't as powerful as you might think. Long road trips would be alright as those tend to run for a long time without many problems. If you like Mustangs that much go for it, I get it. It's not a bad choice for trips but there's other, potentially better options available. Jeeps are comparable on gas mileage and can go offroad. Sedans are more comfortable to sit in for long periods. Hondas and Toyotas will run forever if you maintain it.
Since you're pretty far north I'd take weather into consideration. Mustangs aren't exactly built for inclement weather especially snow and ice. You can take it on ice yes, but it's more stressful than compared to say a Suburu Outback. All wheel (or four wheel) drive will give you more places to travel to than just sticking with the highway.
- Typical lib thinking? Ford had no idea when it happened, had no idea how she got there, no idea how she left, clueless who was there? And despite that every person she listed as a witness made a statement in a sense said Ford was wrong… The lib brain… Get even at Trump…> yep - Kavanaugh did it.
- Is it safe to drive a ford ranger on the freeway for long trips? Can a ford ranger safely sustain speeds of 85-90 mph without any problems at all? I'm looking for a pickup truck that can haul stuff and is good for driving off roaming occasionally but I also what a pickup that has good performance as well. My question is can a 2007 ford ranger XLT 4.0 v6 5 speed manual sustain speeds of 85-90 mph or is that pushing the limits of this truck?
- Is it a good idea for an 18 year old to buy a $20,000 Chevrolet Camaro, Ford Mustang or a challenger? I just graduated HS getting into college and I'm thinking of buying a used or brand new car ( listed above) I have about 5000 for down payment. But I'm just not sure if it's a good financial decision, but at the same time I really want the car. Please leave your opinion below! My credit score is like 650!
- Is it a good idea to take my Ford Pinto to a demolition derby? I have a rusty old 1972 Ford Pinto and I was thinking of entering it in a demolition derby. Is this a good idea?
