Installing ac compressor, does it require replacing the dryer too?
I removed ac compressor from 2000 ford mustang. Going to replace with new one and take it to jiffy lube for the recharge etc… Do i also need to replace the dryer as well?
Added (1). ALSO, when do i vacuum the system before or after installation?
If the old compressor failed or the system has been not properly under pressure for any length of time you will want to replace the dryer. They are not very expensive and if the system is 'open' it does not take very long to replace them.
If the old compressor failed you will want to flush the system with the proper type of solvent. There will be debris from the oil compressor in the system. If you don't flush it out at a minimum it could clog up critical parts of the system and make it not work correctly. It could also get into the new compressor and damage it. When you flush the system you have to take apart most of the connections, when you do that is when you replace the O rings.
Yes, replace the receiver dryer. Once you have it all back together, evacuate the system for a minimum of 45-mins before adding refrigerant.
- Why does my car shut off with too much pressure on the steering wheel? I have a 1990 Ford Tempo. I replaced the ignition to starter cable on it, as it would randomly shut off when taking a hard right due to corrosion on it. However, it still randomly shuts off when too much pressure is applied to the steering wheel. I was suspecting that maybe it is the ignition switch, but I don't have the money to go to a mechanic at the moment. Has anyone else had this problem? And how was it fixed?

- How much upkeep do classic muscle cars require? I have loved classic American muscle cars all my life and have finally got to a stage where I can afford one. But I don't want to invest if I won't have the time to keep it in top working condition. How much maintenance work/costs does it roughly require to keep cars like a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro or 1967 Ford Mustang in good working order?
