Iowa property owner refuses to let my friend get his truck that was parked with his permission at the time?

Asking for a friend. Months ago my friend had traded some work for a ford truck. My friend was given title and it was put in his name as he drove it. Last fall my friend was involved in an accident and took the truck to the guy he got it from as he repairs vehicles. He never fixed anything or did any work on the truck as none was suppose to be done. My friend simply parked it with the property owners permission. The other day my friend went to get the truck and the property owner refused to give it to him. He claims my buddy still owed some work even though everything had already been done and transfer of title took place months ago. Can he legally go get his truck? No application for abandonment had been applied nor had the property owner ever contacted my buddy requestion removal of the truck.

If he owns the truck, then he can take it, period. The other guy can't hold his property. Period.

Step 1. He needs to DOCUMENT payment.
Based on your claims here, I BET he requested AND received repairs after the crash and owes for those repairs.
In addition, he owes STORAGE fees for leaving the truck at the shop for months.
I'm 100% certain the version of what happened you posted here IS NOT the complete truth.
