I'm hearing a clicking noise after replacing spark plugs?

Last weekend I changed the spark plugs in my 01 Ford Sport Trac. Since then, I've been hearing a clicking noise coming from behind the left front wheel. There was one plug in particular that caused a lot of trouble when changing it. The threads inside the engine block had been cross threaded, so I bought a tap to repair them. I have a feeling that might be the plug that's causing the noise, but I'm not certain. The noise only really happens while I'm accelerating. It's nothing too serious; the truck is running much smoother. But it's still annoying, and I'd like to take care of it if possible. Any ideas on what it might be?

Tonight when it is dark, fire the engine up and look at all the spark plug locations and spark plug wires for the blue sparking. Especially, the stripped one.

I'd check plug wires first for arcing. That sound is a dead ringer for a bad wire.

Sounds like that plug isn't in all the way.

Spend a few bucks and goto a FORD DEALER!

You cracked a plug on install by over torque or you pulled the wire/electrode when you yanked it out your clicking is the spark jumping to ground the night trick will locate which plug inspection will locate the problem repair as nessisary

Yeah check for arcing as suggested

The clicking could be spark jumping! Start it up when it, s dark and look at all the plug wires for spark jump!

I just went outside and checked the plug I thought it might be. I pulled the plug, and I saw the blue spark, but it wasn't very noticeable. I put the wire back on that plug, and removed another wire to compare it to. (This is my first time doing this) and it had a much brighter spark to it. If I'm correct, the spark plug wouldn't fire unless it was in the engie all the way? My best guess is I need to replace the wires. They haven't been change since 75k miles. I'm currently at 202k.

  • Noise works, but when I push it, it also makes a clicking/rattling noise? I have a 2012 Ford Focus, and while the horn works, and sounds (as it normally does), when I press it, it also makes a weird clicking/rattling noise (also kinda like a jingle sound - hard to describe). It sounds as if it's coming from behind the center console/under the center console, but it's hard to tell. Any ideas what it could be? With any answers - any advice on how to fix it? Question should say HORN Works
