Added (1). TIM YOU SOUND LIKE YOU HAVE THE BEST ANSWER TO MY QUESTION. ALL I NEED TO KNOW IS WILL THE V-6 TRANS. BOLT UP TO A SMALL BLOCK FORD. IT'S THE SAME BODY AS A FORD RANGER. IT'D THAT IT'S FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. TRYING TO GET IT BACK ON THE ROAD
I doubt it very much. Also the extra power would wreck the transmission early on.
No it will not fit that trans was never made to work with any v8 it's got a completely different bolt pattern
Hi so we know the ford F series trucks use mazda engines. So it would be a case of measuring it up to see basically.
The B4000 could have used either the Cologne V6 or the Vulcan V6.
The Cologne V6 uses the Taunus pattern bell housing.
The Vulcan uses the Vulcan bell housing.
Neither match the 302 V-8 pattern.
While the transmission might be able to be separated from the bell housing the task would be difficult.
Check either a ford ranger forum or a B series forum for how this swap is done. I'm pretty sure they use the transmission set up for the 5.0
You're right about it being the same as a Ranger but Ford didn't use the same trans for a V6 and a V8. The bolt patterns are different and the V6 trans won't stand up to the power of the 302 V8.
- Have 98 Ford Ranger, 4.0, 171,000 miles, auto trans with limited slip. I've owned truck since new and have changed trans fluid every 30-35 000 miles and have never towed anything. The majority of the 171,000 miles are interstate driving. The truck shifts fine with no jerking or slippage. What I do get is thump(s) in rear end when I come to a stop, as gears are downshifting. Do I need a new transmission? Any suggestions? I suppose it's a "clunk" I hear and feel when I come to a stop, not a thump.
- Tstat Ford 94 Mustang: broken bolt, drilled new hole for a bolt? Replacing thermostat in my car when the bolt broke leading us to need to drill a new place for another bolt right next to the old one. Will drilling this and placing a new bolt, hold the thermostat in place and work to keep my car from over heating? I have no idea if doing this will work…
- I would like to know if 04-08 Ford F-150 rear suspension parts would fit on my 1998 Ford F-150? I'm building a prerunner and have already received a long travel kit for the front of my 1998 Ford F-150, but I'm having trouble finding rear suspension parts for it. Honestly I'm perfectly fine with just a pair of Fox 2.5 Factory piggybacks, but I can only find some for the 04-08 Ford F-150 and I just wanted to know if they would bolt onto my 1998 Ford F-150.
