Try holding the accelerator to the floor and crank it over. Don't pump the pedal just hold it down and try starting it. I assume the pump is actually turning on and everything else is in working order.
Bad crank shaft positioning sensor stoped up feul filter bad coil packs short in wiring a engine needs 3 things to run fuel air and ignition all in the correct order make sure timing chain hasn't gone out also
Try an OBDII code reader before you spend more money on parts you don't need.
Why did you think the fuel pump had anything to do with the problem? Have you checked for spark? Have you checked to see if the injectors are clicking?
- I have a 97 Ford Ranger, 4.0, in good shape, 102,000 miles and it doesn't start as well as I think it should. It cranks strong, and has new? Motorcraft plugs and fuel filter. I've cleaned the MAF sensor and throttle body and the truck runs fine and there's no misfire. Maybe I'm expecting too much, but I think the truck should start when I turn the key instead of having to crank 2-3 times. I've also installed a new IAC valve. Any suggestions on how to get the truck to start better?
- I have 1977 ford f150 with a 351 engine in it. I replaced the fuel pump and two filters. It dies often? I have replaced the fuel filter before the fuel pump and the fuel pump aswell as the fuel filter at the engine. Also a new tank. It likes to die. What may be my problem?
- 2007 F150 cranks but won't start? I have a 2007 Ford F150 5.4 4x4 that sometimes will crank but won't start. The last time it has done this it has been about 30 degrees and It only acts up when it is cooler. 99 times out of 100 it will start no problem. I've replaced the fuel pump relay and I can hear the pump when I turn the key. What could be causing this? It has 100,500 miles on it.
- 1991 Ford F-150 cranks but won't start? Battery got hooked up backwards, this is what I've replaced so far; Solenoid, Starter, Coil, Distrubutor cap, ICM, Spark plugs&Wires, Fuel Filter. I've tried using starting fluid and used a different battery and didn't make a difference, it cranks over but doesn't fire up so would the computer and pick up module need replaced? Any things I need to check or do to help solve the problem? I like to get it running soon.
