What would happen if i put duct tape around my exhaust?

Would it catch fire or just get hot and sort of melt. I have a leak and can't afford to fix it but the leak is causing headaches

You can get heat resistant tape that's just a little more expensive (and still way less than fixing the whole exhaust system). Regular duct tape will probably just melt and then burn and then cause a lot of bad smelling smoke.

I have seen tape just for this. NOT duct tape.

It would cause the taoe to melt or in worse cases catch fire if you need to put something over your exhaust use heat proof foil tape

It would melt. An auto parts store might have muffler tape that you could use as a temporary repair.

Cover the leak or crack with JB Weld, let dry for a day or until hard dry and wrap with muffler or aluminum tape.

It would melt. Just buy some muffler wrap.

Duct tape would melt and drop off. Get an exhaust repair bandage kit. Depends where the leak is.

Duct tape won't take the heat. You can get quite inexpensive exhaust patching stuff that will hold for a few weeks.
