Is this a good deal on this car? - 1

Is this a good deal on this car, or good in general? I'm 17 and need a car for work and school. My mom didn't want me to have one period, saying that cars are unnecessary, but my dad recognizes that I practically need one, as there's no such thing as public transportation and my parents are too busy to let me use their cars. I live by a highway so riding a bike or walking is not safe, and walking is pretty much impossible. I'm trying to find the most affordable deal on a good car, and this gave me some hope. Is this a reliable car? My family's cars have scared me away from American brands, but I don't know how long this car should last… I've heard European cars aren't exactly the best, and I know Ford owned Volvo…

Definitely check it out. Also do you have a volvo dealer or volvo mechanic nearby? If not parts and repairs will cost you 2-3 times more than a us made car and probsbly twice what a good honda or toyota would cost to maintain

Who knows. Have a mechanic check it out and then you'll know for sure. It could be a pile of junk, or a great car, but if you are not a mechanic you won't know.

Check kbb.com and nadaguides.com to find the value of that car. I have a feeling that $5K is too much, especially if it has problems.

Look a Toyota or Honda instead. Volvo cost a lot to repair.

  • Is this a good deal on this car? Okay, so my dad totaled my grandma's 1999 Ford Taurus and this is the closest thing I could find to what she had. My grandma doesn't drive much so the vehicle's age doesn't matter really but she still wants a car to drive around in. My local Mazda dealer is selling this 2008 Mazda5 with 92,567 miles for $8,980. Is this a good deal?

  • Is this a good deal for a 1974 ford ltd? The car looks great in person, and the guy seems very trustworthy. Selling for $4,500. I'm looking for something reliable but still has some mojo and comfort.
