Why won't my 2008 ford fusion start?
Yesterday one of my head lights went out. I changed the bulb and that didn't work. I then went to check the fuses under the hood. I was reading the owners manual and while figuring out which fuses to pull. I mistook the ignition switch fuse for the headlight fuse. I realized my mistake immediately and plugged the fuse back in.
I went to start my car for work and it wouldn't start. It turns over fine, but the engine won't fire up. It goes into this weird idle mode where the transmission light comes on, the car shakes, and when I shift into drive or reverse the car won't move. After I turn over the key multiple times the engine will finally fire up and then work perfectly. My check engine light comes on and my obd2 reader says: P0446, P1633, and P0882. I don't believe it's my battery because when I turn over my key, all my electronics work fine. Based on what these codes are saying, it sounds like it may be my battery or pwm (what ever that is). Is this a simple fix or something that will cost a fortune?
I'm no expert but would think it has something to do with the fuses? I have 2009 fusion zetec.
Two reasons a car won't start fuel problem or electric problem now you need to figure out which one
First, it's not issues with the fuses. IF the fuse is good it works. IF not - it doesn't work. There's no half way between good and bad for fuses.
As for the battery, either it can start the car or not. If it can start the car then it's doing its job. It has nothing to do with how well the engine runs. Once the engine is running the alternator produces enough energy to carry all the electrical components. So your battery is probably fine.
The real issue is why something is not running right. Pulling fuses and putting them back does NOT cause issues to arise. All a fuse does is protect a circuit from being overloaded. IF something gets overloaded the fuse burns out. Thus, preventing anything else on that circuit from burning out.
If the ECM (Engine Control Module) (or the PCU - Power Control Unit) is reading codes then it's saying there's something wrong with a sensor - or is sensing an out of tolerance condition. Since I don't feel like googling the codes I'm going to leave that up to someone else to address. Still, whatever those codes mean - THAT is where you need to focus your attention on understanding why the engine is not running properly.
That's all I got.
None of those codes are really related to each other. The 1633 is probably the only one to be concerned about.

I'd clear them all and see what pops up again.
It's probably an easy fix but with you sabotaging your own vehicle by playing mechanic it's bound to cost you a fortune! Tow it to the dealer before you fry your computer!
- Why did my car start and die when put into gear? Now it won't start at all? It's a cold winter day (below zero) Car started right up! I let it run for about 2 minutes, I put it in gear and it just died. I figured it's cold out, not real surprising, but when I tried to start it again, it won't start! Turns over fine but engie won't start! Any ideas? 2003 Ford Taurus 3.0L
- I have a 2008 Ford Focus that won't start. It clicks when I turn the ignition but work crank. Got any advice? Also the radio will flicker on and off if I try to turn it on. Car ran fine 2 days ago. Also just put in a new battery.
- Car won't start even with jump start? I have a Ford Escort 2001. I checked the battery at Auto Zone, told me it was fine and had charge. The alternator is also good. The starter is also fine. When I turn the key there's no clicks. The lights on the dashboard stay on. Does anyone know what it could be? I've also checked the cables and connections.
- 2003 Ford F-250 Powerstroke won't Crank, won't start? When I turn the key, I get a rapid clicking noise, and the indicator lights on the dash flicker. Glow plugs also sound like their barely getting enough juice. No crank at all. I hooked up my 100w solar panel with a automatic12/24 volt charge controller, which said batteries had a good charge. Went ahead and charged them fully, followed by cleaning the post, and battery connections of corrosion. Result was the same, won't start. Any ideas what could be wrong?
