How will cutting off my 2006 ford fusion catilytic converter effect my car? - 1

You won't pass inspection in many states.

It will fail the emission test.

1. It might get 1-3 HP more
2. It would cause a large plum of smoke to come from your car
3. It would also fail any exhaust tests

If you believe the catalytic converter on your fusion has failed as the ECM likely has set trouble codes. If you believe straight piping it until you can get around to replacing the catalytic converter can get yourself in ultra hot water for tampering with emissions equipment as if you live in a state that does emissions testing as your fusion could automatically fail testing.

(1) It will result in greater emissions without a corresponding performance increase.

(2) It will subject the driver -- you -- to arrest and fines.

Performance-wise probably nothing and you will feel very dumb the next time you car has to get smogged cause it will NOT pass without them.

It won't have license plates next time you need to renew them.

It will have a negative effect overall. Any performance boost we anticipate will be minimal at best. Far better to use remapping if we're seeking power gains. Do be aware any modifications to a vehicle will tend to automatically make any insurance invalid. For that car we may get a small improvement of couple of BHP but with sensors not reacting ( no cat) ecu will or ought cut back on fuelling etc to 'save engine' thus we in reality may well get a marked decrease in power and pulling ability. Not recommended.

Yes.

  • My car speakers for 2006 Ford Fusion? Okay so I have a pretty sweet set up; I have Pioneer subs, a pioneer stereo, and I'm getting speakers. My other pioneer stuff works great so I think I'm going to get pioneer speakers too. What sizes will I need? I'm pretty sure I'll need 4 5x8s and 2 6x9s. But what are tweeters? Do they go into the 6x9 spots? I'm pretty sure I only need one is what I've heard so do I buy one 6x9 speaker and then one tweeted? Help me! I know a lot about cars, just not audio stuff
  • Owner of 2003 ford focus, car keeps needing a jump. Last time I did when the cables came off the car shut off? The car lasted a couple of days the last time I jumped it. I believe It's just my battery but how would I know it has anything to do with my accelerator as well?
  • Will cutting off the muffler cut gas milage? I have an '83 Ford F150, i want to make it ear shatteringly loud, but not wanna mess with the mileage I have. It didn't come with a catalytic converter, and i was planning on cutting off right before the muffler and leaving it. Where i would cut it is about halfway down the truck where cab and box meet. Anyone foresee any problems?
