How many miles is too many? - 2012 Ford Fusion?

I have a couple of questions for you guys… I found a 2012 Ford Fusion SEL that I like. The problem is it has a LOT of miles for a 2012, 97k to be exact. Is this something a car buying should stay away from? My other question is how well do 2012 Ford Fusions hold up? How many miles can it be expected to last if it has been taken care of?

I'm looking for a used car 2009-current for around or under 13k. Have suggestions? Feel free to let me know!

Typical expected mileage life is based on typical use. A Fusion that's driven an average hundred miles a day will not experience the kind of wear that an average Fusion does, so you can't take a typical life expectancy and subtract 97k from it. Cars driven mostly on highways tend to last much longer than those driven in cities for a number of reasons.

It is possible that you'll experience certain maintenance issues sooner, like worn out drivetrain components, but some issues are almost entirely age-related, and with respect to those you're going to be driving a new car. It helps to know how the 97k miles were put on. If it belonged to a person who commuted two hours a day to work for two years, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it. If it belonged to a paper carrier, I'd stay away.

The miles may scare some people, but I think this car might be great. With that many miles, you know it was driven on the highway. That is the easiest on the car. The driver must have looked after this car because they needed it all the time. Normally a 2012 Fusion would be fairly expensive., At less than $13000 it should give you your money's worth. If you can get it for about $11,000, then I would say you win.

97 k is a lot of miles in 2 years. Might have been a rental fleet car. I'd avoid it. Rentals are beat on.

Most Fusions have actually been pretty reliable. They have a very good rep.

Stay away for that car. It's got almost 4 times the mile it should normally have on it. For a car that is only 2 years old like that, it should have around 25k-35k on it.

That's not a retail with that many miles on it. High miles though. Pick another one.

Anything over 50K miles in 2 Years- is TOO Much. So look ELSE-where…

Most cars are 12,000 miles a year so that is very very high mileage. My concern is that the services have not been done at the specified mileage. A high mileage car is not a problem if it has a Full service history done as per the mileage but normally up to 24,000 Miles a year

Consumer reports gives the 2012 ford fusion 4 cyl engine very good marks for reliability. I would not fear it with 97K miles if the price were right AND if my driving habits were a lot fewer miles per year.
