Are there any interchangeable brake pads for any 2 cars?
I'm starting a small business soon and we'll be dealing with many cars that come and go. To save money on parts we'll be pulling used parts from the auto junkyard for our vehicles. They have tons of cars but occasionally we'll notice that they may not have the vehicle that we're looking for… If this situation were to occur would we be able to pull something from a similar vehicle built on the same chassis. Eg: Could a 07 ford fusion and 07 lincoln mkz use the same brake pads?
Most production cars and core assemblies share the same platform over many models,
Your business model of installing used brake pads to repair vehicles, just stop now ok…
No one's gonna pay for you for used junkyard parts. Its cheaper to have a professional install new parts.
Not gonna happen skippy. Try something else
The ignition points are the same part for the 1972 Dodge Colt and the Chevy LUV. The 1998 Geo and Corolla are the same car.
A lot of cars are interchangeable. My Celica brakes also fits Corolla and my dad's S-10 brakes fit my Citation's. So yea, they will, but I don't think a Fusion and a Lincoln are compatible because of the big weight and tire size difference. The Lincoln would probably fit an F-150 or maybe even a F-250.
There are brake pads and there are brake pads, interchangeable or not.
Different manufacturers offer different pads. You can't mix pad types!
No way should you use used pads that are not matched sets, as they are when new.
Don't start a business as you suggest, who are you going to kill?
Grow up, learn how to properly repair cars, THEN maybe start a business.
But not with junkyard parts!
If it is worth the expense of a Hollander's Interchange manual? Do so. Quickly answers your question.
However, I also ask you IF the savings in used parts is worth the LIABILITIES legally involved? Personally I'd have your business quickly--were I to discover you sold me a car or repaired mine with knowingly replaced used parts for used parts.
Tjey might but there's no way that you could assume that
You're going to use used brake parts? LMFAO! Don't even bother trying to make money working on cars! You're not going to get far with ideas like that!
Never use junk yard parts on a customer car your asking for law suits and lots of problems most people want that warrranty and you can't give that with used parts casue you never know when that parts going to fail
- What tools do I need to change my brake pads? Explain in plain English to a non-mechanic. Send pictures even? Alright before I get into this, let me explain that I'm a 17 year old girl that has no one to do my brake pads, and I'm unable to transport my car to a shop. Recently bought a car that needs a brake pad change and decided it'd be a good learning experience to just do them myself. I've seen them done and also decided that if I **** something up that's my own problem. I have a 2005 Ford Taurus. My e-mail is nyarseniccatnip@gmail.com (Haha. Ironic.)
- BRAKE light in my '02 ford ranger blinks on and off sometimes. Brake is disengaged. Any thoughts? The BRAKE light in my '02 ford ranger blinks on and off sometimes. Brake is disengaged… Any thoughts?
- How to undo bolts on Ford Galaxy 2003 Front & Rear brake caliper to renew disc's and pads? I need to renew the disc's and pads at the front and rear of Ford Galaxy 2003. I have the correct sockets and a large extension bar, but they will not budge (front or rear). I have tried WD40, thinking of trying a little heat, but its a bit near to the brake hoses. All suggestions gratefully received. I have a full workshop manual on this car issued by Ford which just says that they are tightened to 190Nm. The front bolts are huge 27mm and the rear bolts are 18mm.
