2006 ford fusion wrench light?

My 2006 ford fusion boggles down when I come to a stop, and then shifts hard but won't go out of 1st gear. It has 170,000 miles. I've changed spark plugs and recent oil change. Does anyone know what this could mean?

You have two problems.
The wrench: It's a "maintenance light" You're due for an oil change.
You'd know how to clear the light if you read the owners manual when you performed the last oil change…
The harsh downshifting: You've abused the transmission and it's about to blow into smithereens.

Get an OBD II tester and plug it in under the dash… It should read a code or codes and then you can look up the code and see what it says. That might point you in the right direction.

  • 2006 Ford Mustang with ABS light and TCS light. What do I do? I recently got an 06 Mustang with an ABS light and TCS light on. I had it checked out just by a quick view. The guy does not believe my hub assembly or bearings are bad. I replaced the ABs sensor and it still did not seem to help. When I had it scanned the computer said it is the passenger rear ABS. I have no grinding, no noises, no issues driving, but I want to fix it properly. Does anyone have any ideas on what steps to take now?

  • What does the orange wrench symbol mean on my 2016 Ford Fiesta? I was driving my car home from work and a wrench icon came on. The car drove regularly and I'm aware that I'm due for an oil change. I'm going to take it to the auto shop tomorrow but I'm reading online that the wrench means there's an issue involving a power train malfunction… What is that? Is it possible it's just warning me that I need an oil change?
