Does a Ford V-8 engine relay make a clicking sound if you try to start it and relay's gone bad? - 1
That or simply a dead battery.
There's a number of things that can cause that. Dead battery, bad relay, bad starter, bad battery cables, and/or connections.
That and every other engine in the world.
That would be a battery with not enough power to start the vehicle. Charge the battery and then go to an auto store right away to have the battery and charging system tested for free.
This is more likely a flat battery. As insufficient power cause relay to start but then drop out and repeat cycle fast until we stop using cranking circuit on ignition.
however other factors may do same e.g.Loose connection.Corrosion etc that cause voltage drop. If all those are Ok relay itself may in fact be faulty.
we can easily swap relay to test but do ensure we have charted battery connected or jump with another. If a jump start ha sit cranking easily then battery needs looking at.E.g. Why di sit go flat? Do we have a power drain or possibly a battery cell died?
- 2001 Ford Ranger clicks once then won't turn over, and when key is turned off, it begins making a clicking relay noise under the dash? - 1 I've had this happen before, and the last couple times I just undid the battery and put it back in and it started right up. The battery has a charge, the alternator is new, and I tried jumping the battery just in case. So I know it's not that. I'm thinking it could be something in the ignition switch because sometimes I have to lift up on the shifter knob for it to register that it's in park and turn over. Any ideas?
- I bought an Actron CP9125 Code Reader to try and diagnose a rough idle at cold start on a 98 Ford 4.0 engine. The rough idle had not caused? The CEL to come on. I plugged the code reader in with just the key on and pressed read and the little asterisk goes half-way across the screen one time and stops. I press the read button again and it reads 0 codes. I was thinking it would scan multiple times to check for pending codes or other issues. I tried it with the engine running and the same thing happens. Is this code reader operating properly?
- Why does my car make the sound of locking it as I first start driving? I have a 2012 Ford Focus, when I first start driving my car makes the noise that it does when your press the lock button twice in the remote. Anyone know the reason for this? It just started yesterday.
- My '04 Ford focus makes a clicking sound when I turn the key, what could it be? It's an '04 Ford focus, 4 cylinder 2.3L engine, I got a new battery about 2 months ago. 2 times recently I've gone to start my car in the morning and it makes a weird clicking sound then kicks on. It has been a little cold when it happens and I've noticed the headlights and dashboard lights sometimes dim and go back to normal when I have them on.
