Switching a ECU in a 05 Ford Focus?
When you switch a ECU in a focus, obviously you have to have the new ECU re-keyed to work with your current keys/ignition. My question is, if you replace it with a junkyard ECU, do you have to reprogram it to match your cars VIN number(changing parameters back to your OEM specs) or can you keep the pulled ECU s VIN and parameters and just re-key? Assuming you grab a ECU from a focus with the same engine.
I'm not sure how focus does there's but most ECU keys are dealership parts, you got it out of another focus yes? Then the dealer ship can program it for you.
Many vehicles have an immobilizer module that needs to be programmed to the ECU. Call a Ford dealer or a locksmith.
- I have a 2000 Ford Taurus Sedan that has a screeching metal on metal sound when switching gears to reverse? And the sound is there the entire time you are backing up. Does this sound like a transmission issue? Also hearing a rubbing noise in the steering, and it is a little tight, any idea what that could be? Also heater blows, but not real strong and no heat comes out… Does that sound like a difficult and expensive fix? And could the heater or any of the above issues cause my engine light to light up solid continuously? The car runs pretty good aside from these issues.
- Switching from manual to automatic? 1977 Ford F100 truck? Hello I'm going to switch manual to automatic, I just need to know the cost estimate if I had it done professionally. I know it will be expensive but I want this truck only.
- How do I hook up my ecu to my 2005 1.3 Ford Ka? I have a 2005 Ford Ka 1.3 petrol and I have been breaking it, unfortunatly the engine or ecu or shell did not sell. I thought I might get it back going again as a banger but I have cut all the wires on the ecu making it impossible to wire it back together as there's more than one wire the same colour. I have had a look for wording diagram to trace the wire and do it that way but I can't find any wireing diagrams. If anyone could help that would be much appreciated.
- Is Ford switching all their vehicles into ecoboost engines? Why is Ford heavily advertising their Ecoboost engines a lot? I know is suppose to boost up fuel economy and horsepower but they taking out V8 engines. Other Auto companies they refine their V8s and make them fuel efficient or at least increase mpg. Ford is like ditching V8 and put V6 twin turbo to solve their problem quickly to me. Anyone agree?
