Is Ford affordable to repair/maintain?

I know luxury cars are usually most expensive to maintain, but how are Fords when it comes to repair/maintenance bills?

Specifically, how do they compare to Honda as far as practical maintenance? (Honda was my first make, but this is my first Ford.)
Gently used Focus SE hatch, 2014 model year…
This is a way newer car than I'm accustomed to (I last drove a wonderful 1990 Accord) and it's definitely more computerized. Would I still adhere to the 'every 5,000 miles' mark for oil changes, if I drive infrequently, under mostly normal conditions?

Just trying to figure out what kind of leeway (if any) the Intelligent Oil Life Monitor gives me. Thanks for your patience! Please, only genuine answers as I'm genuinely curious.

If you drove a Honda before and now getting a Ford, you will be disappointed. Stick to another Honda. If you want the Focus, buy one without the dual clutch transmission.

It will not be different compared to Honda. They are good organized. Compare to the German cars, you need to wait for spare parts at least 6 months. And they are cheating you on the spot.

I currently have -3- Fords, the newest is a 2002 with only 157,000 miles on it! My '92 as like 450,000 miles. They run forever and I do 'most' of my own repairs.

There are kinds of "Affordable".
1. Labour, How long does it take to do the repair. What is the current labour rate.
2. Parts, Can you get the part now, or do you have to wait. For it to be shipped
3. How many repair facilities are in the area that "can do" the work necessary.

A. What kind of repair are you expecting.
B. How does the Vehicle stand in Average Repair Needs.

Thirteen Years of Warranty Claims (OEM) for a dozen badges tells me that Every Car is built well and by the Warranty Provided you get a clue as to how well.
With few exceptions All vehicles are well built and made to last 10 years.
Honda has 12 plants in the US
Ford has 3.

US Built vehicles serial Numbers begin with a #1.
Canada #2.

You should have checked BEFORE you bought it. Two star reliability rating out of five possible. Read: https://cars.usnews.com/cars-trucks/ford/focus/2014/reliability Better keep about a grand in reserve for emergencies.

READ the owner's manual that came with the car and follow the manufacturer's recommendations for maintenance.

Different models have different repair records. Consumer Reports has reliability listings for cars.

The are probably average on repair costs, but remember what FORD stands for.

Yeah.

I'm on my 3rd Ford F150, a 2012 FX4, purchased based on the performance of my 2003 F150. Beginning at about 50,000 miles the following repairs had to be made over the next year:

Repair Retractable Sunroof - $2100 (plastic actuator arms both broke - common problem on Fords with a sunroof for YEARS)
Rear Camera repair - $400 ( dreaded blue screen of death - common problem for years never addressed by Ford)
Intermittent Wiper repair - $165 (Would not shut off when activated - common problem for years never addressed by Ford)
Gas Filler Door - broken hinge spring - $125 (common problem reported for years - never addressed by Ford)
Rear Window/side mirror defroster - $924 (the failed switch is built into the sliding rear window. To fix = replace entire window.)
Drive Door speaker replacement - $85
Radiator hose failure - $286
Transmission issue - periodically shift into reverse and engine just revs (Recall issue - but Ford would not address because the recall was for a different factory than mine was produced at)

I have owned Ford F150's since 1993. I will never buy another Ford product.

  • How much would it cost to maintain (annually) a 1965 Ford Mustang? I'm planning to purchase a 1965 Mustang. The one I'm looking at is mechanically sound, and in very good overall condition. I will probably drive it 5K-7K miles/yr. I don't work on vehicles myself so it will have to go to a mechanic for service. Can anyone give me a rough estimate?
  • Luxury, affordable, SUV's? So I'm looking for a luxury looking SUV (7 seater) that's affordable and fit for a family. Suggestions?
  • Is the Dodge Sprinter expensive to maintain? I was looking at an 2007 or 2008. Can someone please tell me what year is good and if they are reliable. Also if anyone know anythING about the Ford transit and if they're better.
  • Cheap & affordable way to make a 2011 ford focus base sound legally loud? My dad owns a 2011 ford focus base, no fancy options of anything. He absolutley hates those guys with pretty loud cars. I have about a 50$ budget to turn his car into one of those as a prank. I'm not looking for answers where people say "drill hole in your exhaust", I'm looking for bolt on parts that will do the trick as I want to reverse it back to stock after he notices.
