Car makes a grinding noise when I step on the brakes?
Okay one week ago I took my car in because some plastic piece was hanging down under my car. And I thought I was hearing it scrape against the ground. So a week ago they removed the splash shield (I believe that was what the part was called) on my right side. Well later on that day I noticed that when I stepped on the brakes I started hearing a grinding noise (wasn't very loud at first). I thought for some reason it had to be because I had a part removed on the right side (that was where the sound was coming from). But now it sounds like it is coming from both sides and it is louder. I plan on taking it in and want to do it soon but I have class and work so I need a place that could check it out. And also have parts to repair it. Could it be my brake pads and some other part of the car making the noise? If so about how much does it cost for brake pads to be replaced and possibly another part that might be involved?
I drive a 2003 Ford Focus SE. I took my car into the shop about 3 months ago also to get everything checked out plus a tune up so I'm wondering why no one would tell me anything about the brakes. Also a little over a month ago I got 3 brand new tires! And nothing was mentioned:/ I also had my car inspected not even a month ago and nothing was mentioned!
Also what places are open late and don't try to rip you off price wise?
I'm in the Bryan/College Station area in Texas.
The most common reason would be the brakes. They didn't mention anything because more than likely they want you to keep coming back and spending money.
- My 2008 ford ranger Truck is making a Grinding noise when clutch is engaged/press. What are my options? I attach a youtube video of a different car making the same sound. Is my only option to replace the clutch or can it be adjusted? If anybody could link a repair manual to a 2008 ford ranger that would be awesome. I tried google and torrent sites but had no luck
- Rubbing/grinding noise coming from my drivers side wheel/brake? 2002 ford focus se… Also i have jacked the car up, turned the wheel and halfway through it rubbed.(wheel as in tire not steering wheel)
- Noise works, but when I push it, it also makes a clicking/rattling noise? I have a 2012 Ford Focus, and while the horn works, and sounds (as it normally does), when I press it, it also makes a weird clicking/rattling noise (also kinda like a jingle sound - hard to describe). It sounds as if it's coming from behind the center console/under the center console, but it's hard to tell. Any ideas what it could be? With any answers - any advice on how to fix it? Question should say HORN Works
- Car Made A Grinding Noise, Won't Work? I drive a 2005 Ford Focus. When I got in my car and turned the ignition, it made a loud screeching noise. I was able to idle a little, but eventually, it stopped altogether. There's some fluid on the ground and it is below freezing out. Any ideas?
