Are the new 2013-2014 Ford Focus hatchbacks good cars?

Only the ST model in my opinion. The ST Focus is actually really fun to drive, it has sharp turns and quick acceleration 0-60 5.7 seconds, 250 horsepower. It's a nice personal quick car. Any of the models other than ST are okay, but you can buy better.

Probably. Ford got their act together for the Focus in 2004 and for the last decade the Focus has been a strong seller - the best selling car in the world the last I heard. They are not as dead reliable as Toyotas often are but they don't collect a lot of expensive repairs, are cheap to own and feed, cheap to insure.

Yes however the automatic ones have issues with clutch shutter from leaking input shaft seals. The warranty on this issue is 100k miles or 7 years, though.

  • Why would people buy older foreign cars instead of brand new American cars? I see it all the time, people driving 7-8 year old Mercedes or BMWs that they paid probably paid around $20,000. They could of easily gone out and bought a brand new Ford or Dodge, but they didn't. They bought a Mercedes with over 100k miles. All worn and torn on the inside. But aslong as they're shining on the outside I guess.
  • Why are some Ford cars (like the Taurus and Focus) such unreliable cars? I'm looking at cars in the $3000 - $4500 range and I'm noticing a decent amount of Ford Taurus's and Focus's and out of all the cars that I see, these are two cars that just seem so unreliable. I test drove a Focus last year and it sounded like something was wrong with the engine.
  • What should I buy and why? 2013 ford fusion it 2013 civic coupe? I like the sporty edge of Both the coupe and fusion, but they're very different cars. I'm a male. Want gas mileage
  • Is the 2012-2014 Ford Focus a good car? I'm a 19 year old male and I'm looking to get a new car in the next year. I'm debating between a few different models but I'm looking at the 2012-2014 Ford Focus Titanium. Most of the time, it's only me in the car and I would be doing a lot of traveling with it. I know the Focus has good MPG but, is it reliable? I've heard some bad things about the transmission. I was also thinking about the 2010-2012 Ford Fusion SEL.
