2014 Ford Focus clock won't set?
I just got an oil change, tire rotation, and a recall fixed on my car at the dealer. The clock is stuck at 10:08 and no matter how much I change it it will not set! I called them and told them what was happening and they told me to disconnect the negative battery cable then reconnect it. Is that really the solution? I'm not a car person but I can't even reach the cable with my wrench because of where it is. Anything else I can do?
Find the fuse for the circuit that runs the clock and pull it out and then put it back in
Stop by the dealership
Try this:
Cutting power to the clock may force a reset. If not, the clock itself may need to be replaced. As the clock doesn't effect any functions of the vehicle, and my cell phone and watch both tell me the time, I personally wouldn't spend a penny, or more than 2 minutes dealing with it.
Disconnecting the battery should fix it. You don't have to be a car person, just unscrew the screws holding one of the cables to the post, take it off, and put it back on. If you can't do it, take it back to the dealership, they're the ones who messed it up. It would only take them a minute.
We're you able to fix this? I just had that recall done and my clock is also broken.
I found that if I got in car. Shut door. Set clock as above. Clock reads wrong time. Put key in ignition. Turn key over to accessory & off (quickly) about 5 times it resets the clock to the time you put in. Works for date too.
I did the 5 times on off and it worked
I just had the Transmission Recall and TCM update done and noticed the clock read wrong, but won't change the time also. In the process of letting it sit with the negative cable off. Never have had any problems with this car till now.
Can't get my clock to reset. It went back to the old time.
Mine did it to! And the 5 times thing worked for me too.
I had the same problem, set it to 24 hour clock and then back again and it fixed it
Here is my way to fix it. Turn on the CD player of the Escape, while the CD is playing, try to set the date, then set the time.
We took fuse out and put it back in, then we could reset clock and date.
Got TMC software updated and clock didn't want to set. Did the 5-times thing and it worked! Hilarious.
5-times thing, see poster above, "Shut door. Set clock as above. Clock reads wrong time. Put key in ignition. Turn key over to accessory & off (quickly) about 5 times it resets the clock to the time you put in. Works for date too."
I tried the setting of the time and date and then turning the the key to accessory on and off about 10 times and it worked! Isn't the internet great?
I did the 5 times thing about 10 times and it worked… Isn't the internet great?
I tried the 5 times thing but no luck:/ Any other suggestions?
Try this: Reset the date, even though it may be showing correct. Then set the clock. If that does not work do a master reset and then set date and then clock.
Reset the date to a future date… Then reset the clock and do the 5 times and then reset the date back to the current date.
The turn it on/off 5 times didn't work for me. Just had the tcm recall done. Must be a bug in software
Just did the 5 times thing. Worked!
No luck trying the 5 time thing on my car either. I would expect the service tech to know this as a problem and check it before returning my car following th computer recall. Back to the dealership to wait another two hours?
Mine had the update yesterday and same issue. Turning the key off and on isn't working. The dealer should know this is a problem and fix it before returning the vehicles.
Thanks to whoever suggested setting a future date! That worked like a charm. I tried the 5x thing to no luck, not sure if I was fast enough turning it over each time. But at least I don't have to go back to the dealership! And yes, if this is a known issue, they should check it before sending it out.
Set the date ahead 1st. Then set the clock, 5 times thing and then change the date back.
It wasn't working for me until I opened and closed the door
Fuse #67 under the glove compartment take it out for ten seconds and put it back in All is well after that Reset your clock and you'll have it
5 times into accessory then off worked
I have tried everything listed multiple times and nothing works.
Mine also did not work until I opened the door. Frustrating.
The 5 time thing only worked for me when I got out of the driver seat, left driver door open. Then, walk around car 2 -1/2 times get in the passage side and then do the 5 times a d it worked.
The advance date / 5 times thing worked for me, too, but it also turned on my Check Engine light.
Haha. I tried them all. When I opened the door it worked.
I took #67 fuse out for 10 seconds and it worked for me after trying everything else.
This site is awesome… I tried the 5 times with the key, I tried taking battery cable off and none of these worked for me. So i took #67 fuse out for 10 seconds and then was able to finally set my clock back!
I did the set date to a future date (1 month ahead) then set the time and it worked. I couldnt get the 5 times thing to work either. Have a 2014 ford focus
Thanks for helping guys! The 5 things worked for me, it was super annoying to have the time wrong and I didn't want to go back to the dealership for service.
If you're having problems try to open and close the door to completely turn off the interface, then try it again. Mine didn't work the first time but the 2nd time it works.
My battery died and my 2014 Escape's clock reads 9:26… I can't reset it. None of the suggestions here work… The owners manual says the GPS needs to reset… How can I reset the GPS?
I set the date forward to 2018 and was then able to change the clock. Didn't have to do the 5 times ignition thing. Great suggestion!
Had the same issue after taking my car in for the transmission recall. Did the 5x thing and it worked!
I changed the date to a week ahead and it accepted changed time then I went back to correct date. Nothing else worked
Had to reset date, then clock, then do the 5 times off/on, then open the door. Magic.
Yeap 5 attempts and it let you set it up
The 5 times thing worked!
Clock would not reset and date would not reset.
Take the negative battery cable loose and reconnect. Works great.
You would have thought Ford would fix this software issue.
I have a 20102 Ford Focus, when I turn the ignition off, the clock stays illuminated. Is there a way to make this go out, I think it is running the battery down.
I have a 2014 Escape. Just flashed with PCM update. Clock was stuck. I just tried the 5 times process above and it worked! That's the craziest thing ever.
Did the 5 times thing. Didn't work, then I did date thing.it was on the date I had service done. (Horn was not working) put date up and back including year, then went back and everything worked beautiful. Now it's keeping right time. Before, it wouldn't even move from 10 something unless I tried to change time, which would increase it by 1 minute.so weird, but it's fixed now so I'm happy!
Took a long time after pulling fuse and waiting 10 seconds…3 times… Then setting clock hitting ok… Turning key on and off 5 times 19…20 times… Pinching mirror off of windshield once… Then repeating everything again… Then opening my door… I saw the time was closer… At least only 1 hour off instead of 7 hours… Then WAS able to move time to the correct spot… And put my mirror back on…
Thank you to whoever suggested putting the advanced date thing that worked perfectly. By moving the day up one day I was able to get the clock to set
I have a 2014 Transit Connect with back-up camera prob, says "not available" then would work sometimes or have a snowy or grainy picture. Also noticed I have this clock issue where it won't reset. Can only get to my positive terminal on the battery, but disconnecting did nothing. Tried the change date & change time then key trick. Clock reset after only 2-3 turns. This also seems to have fixed my camera issue too! Bonus! Still doesn't read correct outside temp, but who cares… Thanks.
5 time thing worked great! I did have to set the date first though
I did a future date, set the time and it worked… Then went back and did the date. 5* thing did not work for me and never tried disconnecting the battery cable.
Tried the 5 times thing, didn't work for me. Changing time and date while CD player was on however, did work.
I changed the date on my car and the time reset to the correct time. Whatever works I guess.
5 off/ons worked for me too!
Had my 2014 Focus serviced today and clock would not set. Pulled F88 for about 30 seconds and stuck back in. Solved the issue first time. Fuses are under the dash on the PASSENGER SIDE.
Just had the canister/computer reset recall done on my 2014 Focus, and this was driving me nuts. The 5 on/off thing really worked! Amazing!
I did a future date, set the time and it worked… Then went back and did the date. 5* thing did not work for me and never tried disconnecting the battery cable.
Big thx to all that comment, after a recall and software update my clock didn't work on my 2014 focus tried the date thing reset the clock all is good, called dealer earlier in day they knew nothing. Thx again guys for all the input
I have same issue after I changed parts in a dealer shop. I tried 5 times thing, tried playing CD and set clock, the last time I changed the date to a future date while playing CD and then changed the clock, and it worked! Maybe you can try all of this, you don't need to go the dealer to do it. Don't know how it works, but it's really amazing to have internet. My suggestion is to change the date to a future date first, and try to set your clock and set the date back. If it doesn't work, try other methods.
Thank you everyone, updated for tank deformation update… Now cant set clock! Did NOT reset the radio, I set the date, then was able to change the clock… Worked for me! Thank you for all the replys
So glad I found this. Same problem with clock after getting call back taken care of. I tried all day to set clock and couldn't until I changed date ahead two days and then set clock then set date to correct date. Thanks all of you for suggesting this!
Same problem setting clock after getting the recalls fixed. Playing CD, and then messing with the date then clock fixed it! It was driving me nuts, thank you internet!
Have to have door open for 5 times to work
I just had my Focus serviced for a couple recalls. Taking out the fuse (under the passenger compartment, A79) for 10 seconds, placing back in and then turning my car to accessory, changing time/date did the trick. I had to wait a couple seconds for the computer to catch up but now it's working great
I just radio off hit menu then set date first then clock. Turned car on then radio on and it worked
hey Ford maybe you should inform you dealers of this problem and how to fix it. The dealer i just went "had never heard of this problem" its 2022
- Ford Ka clock flashing wired? I have a Ford Ka 2005 and it will not start the clock flashes very quickly the after 1minuit it flashes very slowly the engine will not turn over. Any help will be much appreciated
- Hey libs, I just set my ford truck on fire to show christina we won't tolerate her lies, does that trigger yeh? I just set my ford truck on fire to show christina we won't tolerate her lies, does that trigger yeh?
- 2008 Ford Focus radio and clock not working? I went into the car yesterday and started it up. The "FORD FOCUS" came on the clock as usual, but after that nothing appeared. Then i attempted to use the radio and it wouldnt work. If i pressed random buttons(pushing in the ok button a bunch of times) it would sometimes pop up like 12:00. I checked fuse box and the fuses were good. What could be causing this?
- Ford Fiesta 2012 model (69 000km on the clock / 42 000 miles) Aircon has seized - warranty? So I'm wondering - our ford fiesta is covered under warranty until 120 000km and it's on 69 000… We, however, serviced the car through a friend of ours who is a qualified mechanic - and DID use all ford parts. We were driving just the other day and our air con compressor seized. This is practically a brand new car. Is the air con still under warranty if we self serviced the car? It is definitely a manufacturing issue and has NOTHING to do with the service.
