Ford Fiesta 2012 model (69 000km on the clock / 42 000 miles) Aircon has seized - warranty?

So I'm wondering - our ford fiesta is covered under warranty until 120 000km and it's on 69 000… We, however, serviced the car through a friend of ours who is a qualified mechanic - and DID use all ford parts.

We were driving just the other day and our air con compressor seized. This is practically a brand new car.

Is the air con still under warranty if we self serviced the car? It is definitely a manufacturing issue and has NOTHING to do with the service.

Did you friend do the repairs in his or your garage or did he do it at his shop? Though he is a qualified mechanic, there's a chance that the work he did is not covered since if it was done privately. Go through your warranty paperwork to see what it says about the service being done.

Self servicing does not void your warranty.

Your covered as long as anyone has not done anything to the A/C system. You do not have to even tell the dealer about your service at any other shop.

As long as maintenance is done properly, your warranty does not require work to be done by a Ford dealer's shop or an approved garage. HOWEVER, I suggest you actually READ the small print on your warranty paperwork. I'll bet it only covers the DRIVETRAIN for 120,000km, and the rest of the car for 12 months or 12,000 miles. Since your AC Compressor is NOT part of the drivetrain, I doubt that it's covered.
