2007 Pontiac G-6 or 2008 Ford Focus which is the better choice?

I'm stuck between these two, my dad said that the pontiac will be more expensive to fix if anything went wrong on it and that the ford will be a better choice, but I like the style of the pontiac better. They both drive pretty good when I test drove them… The pontiac is 4500 and the ford is 3700, I just want to make the best decision so opinions please!

Pick the one you think you'd enjoy driving more.

As far as overall quality and reliability the two automobiles were about the same when new. The trick now it to only consider the one which has been fully and properly serviced and maintained the last decade. If the seller can't show you proof it as then it is not worth considering.

Get a mechanic to check both cars. Pick the one that will run for the next 5 years (hopefully).

Pontiac is out of business and Ford is still going. Have a mechanic check them out to see which is in better shape. Either one has its particular serious problem history. Find a nice Japanese car unless you're a good mechanic.

Focus. From experience the pre 2012 Focus has been generally reliable as it's a simple a to b type car. My family has owned a few and got many years out of them with general maintenance. Just make sure the car was well kept and it should hold up fine over the next few years. I on the other hand had a 2014 and the new transmissions they put in these are horribly unreliable so avoid at all cost.

The Pontiac will be marginally less unreliable but I'd say you'd be better off with a Toyota Corolla or Camry or a Honda Civic or Accord.

I would get the Ford. It is a year newer and now that Pontiac is out of business you might find getting parts a bit harder and more expensive. (Try finding Saab parts these days.)
