Finding help to locate people to help my case?

A few weeks ago I had a wreck hitting two horses at night on a dark strech of a highway. I came over a incline a crashed into two horses which were both put down by the highway pratrol. The crash report stated unknown for the horse owners and a lawyer and my claims adjuster said I need to locate the owners to persue my case I have made several phone calls and even tried to contact the investigating officer so far to no success. The car a 1986 Ford Thunderbird which was labeled a classic only had liability insurance My place of employment now has me on A 12 hr a day work schedulmaking it harder to locate do anything. How can I find help in locating the hirse owners to to help get my claim settled. I do not have a spare car nor do I have money to spare. I feel I was not at fault and I'm sliwly losing this case. This is only making me depressed and unsocialable. Any advice.

That's going to be very difficult. The horse owner is liable for them getting loose, and would certainly be considered at fault. He has every incentive to deny ever owning those horses.

Did you obtain any kind of identification information off of the horses' bodies? Brands, lip tattoos, freeze brands? Did anyone record a proper description of the horses? You might be able to trace something through a breed registry, or the Jockey Club.

Unless you can get some local gossip about someone losing a couple of horses, I'm not optimistic that you'll be able to identify the owner - let alone with the certainty a lawsuit would require.

The other poster is correct.

Your only chance of finding the owner, would be to go on that highway during daylight to see how many places you see horses. If they lost 2, most likely they could have a dozen or more, or even just 2 or 3 more.

But, even if you see 2 or 3 houses/farms with horses, how to do find out which one? What you must look for is damages. If the horses got out, most likely the fence could be down, bent over etc for them to get out. You need to look for REPAIRS in a fence. So, if fence is rusted and see new fence, could indicate that the owner fixed as soon as possible, so no one would know it was their fence.

It is doubtful the police will get involved, since they did an initial investigation and most likely closed the case. If, you can find damages, then contact the police and have them go to where you suspect the owner is, and let them handle it.

Why not take 1 day off from work, take a friend with you, and go back/forth on this highway to see if you can find who might be responsible.
