Will my insurance go up if I buy a Ford Fiesta or Focus ST?

I currently own a 2012 Ford Focus SE hatchback 5speed manual. It's alright I don't hate it and it's great for what it is. I bought it over a year ago so I'm not quite ready to trade it yet but I like to be proactive in the next car I'll buy and I'm just wondering if my insurance will go up considering if it's a sports car? My driving record is perfect and I've been licensed in the state of Ohio for 5 years and I'm a 21 year old guy. My rates now are cheap through Geico (118 monthly) but I recently switched because I paid 230 monthly with State Farm

Probably as the ST is a much more powerful car.

Since when is a Ford Fiesta a sportscar?

The ST version of either model will cost considerably more to insure than the non ST versions - guaranteed. How much more, only your insurance provider can answer. Call them to find out - or with Geico you can just do it on the website, it's really easy. Definitely find out how much more before you make this change.

Collision and comprehensive depends somewhat upon cost of the car and availability of (possibly used) repair parts. So that part of it would likely cost more for the Focus ST (not sure about Fiesta). Liability depends upon accident statistics for that vehicle.

When I went from an 18 year old 95 Maxima SE 5-spd purchased May 94 (without collision and comprehensive) to a new 2012 MazdaSpeed3 (comparable to a Focus ST), naturally it went up due to the C&C, but I did not pay attention to whether the liability changed. When for a winter vehicle I recently went from rotting 2001 Pathfinder to 2008 Subaru (with 150,000 miles that still looked like new) without C&C on either, I actually got a refund on liability (maybe Subarus have less accidents).
