Towing capacity of a 1998 1.4L ford feista?

I have a 1998 1.4L 5 door ford fiesta ghia, and have recently added a tow bar, the towing capacity is not in the user manual (although it does state that the car can be fitted with a tow bar) and different websites give different capacities… Does anyone know how much it can tow safely?

The answer seems to be 900Kg braked no un-braked trailer permitted.

Anything close to that weight will hammer the transmission.

A ford Fiesta shouldn't have any problem hauling a tow bar… As long as you don't attach anything to it.

A FACTORY fitted tow bar weights will be in the manual.
An after market tow bar fitted will have the weights in IT'S own paperwork. They will be less than the factory fitted one.

This should have been your main question BEFORE purchasing it:
"What is the Max. Weight I can tow with this tow bar?"

I wouldn't even try it with such a small engine. You MIGHT get away with towing a motor bike, or a push lawnmower!

Hi safely about 3/4 of the cars own weight even when brakes are fitted to the trailer.

Max towing capacity will be in owners manual. Or try ford owners club or ford web site etc.
Bear in mind weight limit and low pulling power restrict such a small car to a trailer etc and not a caravan. Check with sites such as caravan owners clubs etc for info on best towing cars, weights. Nose weights etc.

A tow bar goes on the front of the car so you can pull it behind an RV etc, you have tow bar misconstrued with tow hitch.
