Tdci! Does that mean my car has turbo?

My car is a Ford fiesta titanium tdci! So does that mean that my car has turbo? Or am I dreaming lol

YOU don't know and you're asking US?

Your Ford has a Turbo Diesel commonrail injection engine. Almost all cars with diesel engines are blown.
The inherent downside of a diesel engine is that it struggles to draw enough air into the combustion chamber, and turbocharging can really help a diesel engine to combat this.
With commercial diesel engines, the goal is to increase airflow to the engine, rather than to increase combustion pressures (as combustion pressures are already high). This means that traditionally, with commercial diesel engines, the overall 'boost' provided by the turbo is quite low - somewhere between 5-8 psi.
In practice, this means that diesel turbochargers are generally larger than their petrol counterparts, with a large turbine section, which is capable of handling both the high volume of exhaust gases, and need to provide enough air intake to keep the cylinders filled.

Yes. The t stands for turbo. Unfortunately the d stands for diesel, so don't expect it to go fast. Under the Ford TDCi system, the diesel is injected under pressure and the air is blown in with a fan. It almost feels like you're driving a petrol car, until you smell the exhaust.

Yes, but don't get too excited. Almost all modern diesel engines have turbos. The car will only be fast if the engine is big enough and powerful enough to actually move the car quickly. Most of those small cars are using ultra-small engines (diesel or gas) and make up the difference in power with turbos. This makes the car a little bit more efficient when its idling or running slowly and you don't need the extra power, but at the top end the peak power output is no better than a slightly larger engine. The end result is the car doesn't have any more power, it just gets slightly better fuel economy.

Yes.

Judging by the lack of knowledge (could or could not be your fault), my hope is that you are using the GREEN nozzle at the gas pumps…

Yes. And the d means diesel. Bad luck.

So, what you're saying is that you don't have a clue how to do a simple internet search to discover the answer, is that right? You're that helpless? FAIL

Look under the hood. If you see a turbocharger, it has a turbo.

Your car has a diesel engine with a turbo. Over 40 miles per gallon.

  • What oil grade does a 2005 Ford Transit TDCi 135 T350 take? Can't see any clear answer online for what oil grade this transit takes… Some people say 10w/40 and some say 5w/30! Just needs to know how much the sumps and and what exact oil it has! Plus if it needs to be semi or fully symthetic!
  • What does ford premium care 100 deductible mean? My car has an oil leak, and I bought it last July. I purchase the premium care package but next to it, it says standard deductible is $100, what does that mean? My husband is deployed and I'm not too care savvy. Please no rude comments. I just need help.
  • I have a 56 plate Ford Fiesta and the stereo has an aux button which has never been used how does it work do I just plug lead in and it will? As I said I have 56 plate fiesta and the aux button on the stereo is there but has never been used. If I plug an aux lead into my car where the USB port charger is will hat Work just by plugging my phone in and pressing the aux button or will it need something done to the stereo for it to work?
  • What does automatic (S6) mean? Whenever I go to look up a car on the EPA's fuel economy website, I'll often find cars that will say "Automatic (S6)" instead of "6-speed Automatic" or whatever. What does it mean? Like, the 2013 Chevy Avalanche (which has a manual shift mode) just says "6-speed Automatic," but the 2014 Ford Explorer (which also has a manual shift mode) says "Automatic (S6)."
