My ford fiesta doesn't start up and we have tried jump starting it to no avail?
I got my first car as a second hand car and don't know much about cars. It is a ford fiesta finesse 1999 and won't start up. Can I take it to ford to get it repaired?
Added (1). engine does not crank, no sparks, turning the key doesn make the engine crank at all
You can take it to a Ford garage for repairs - although it will probably be cheaper to use an independent garage.
If it won't start then you'll obviously need to make arrangements to get it to the garage. If you're a member of the AA, RAC, Greenflag etc. You may have cover for this already.
There are a number of possible reasons it won't start. If you can't check them out yourself, get a mobile mechanic to come and fix it.
Basically, an engine will go if a fuel and air mixture get into the cylinder head and there's a spark. First charge up the battery. If it won't stay charged, get a new one. If you don't have a battery charger, buy one. Check that the leads to the spark plugs are clean and dry. Take out the plugs and clean up the end. It may be that the carburetor flooded in your previous attempts to start it. Once the battery is charged and everything is back together, gently press the accelerator pedal to the floor and hold it there. Now try to start the car. Release the pedal once the engine is revving.
Do you think it would help if you at the very lease tell if the engine cranks over?
This is why a breakdown service is so useful.
You give us no clues as to when it ran? Does it crank? Have you got fuel?
Is there sparks?
You have not provided enough info for a diagnosis. I suggest you take it to a mechanic.
I can't help you without being there to see it. What you are asking is like calling the tattoo guy describing what you want and asking for a price without him being able to look at it
That would be a lot smarter than taking it to Jiffy Lube!
- I have a 97 Ford Ranger, 4.0, in good shape, 102,000 miles and it doesn't start as well as I think it should. It cranks strong, and has new? Motorcraft plugs and fuel filter. I've cleaned the MAF sensor and throttle body and the truck runs fine and there's no misfire. Maybe I'm expecting too much, but I think the truck should start when I turn the key instead of having to crank 2-3 times. I've also installed a new IAC valve. Any suggestions on how to get the truck to start better?
- 2014 Ford Mustang won't start. I tried syncing my phone to the car, and then the anti theft icon started blinking rapidly All electronics down, the panel won't light up, window won't roll up. Every time I try to start it, I hear a clicking sound above the passengers foot rest.
- Ford KA keeps needing jump starting? I have a 55 plate Ford KA, I went to turn it on this morning and the battery was flat, got it jump started and drove it round for around 20 mins fine, went to turn it on again and it needed jump starting again, drove it round for a further 2 hours thinking it would sort it, went to turn it on again and it needed jump starting AGAIN. Clearly a car that needs jump starting 3 times in a day has something wrong with it but what could be causing this? Does it need a new battery?
- My car doesn't start or has a hard time starting? I have a 2005 Ford Explorer XLT V6 4.0 Flex Fuel with 126000 miles in it. When staring the engine it turns over fine, then sometimes sputters and stalls. I have to push the gas peddle to keep it alive. I just changed the fuel filer and put new spark plugs and wires in. I think it might be the gas pump.
