Car takes a long time to heat up?
I have a ford fiesta 1.3 2003 it take a very long time to heat up. Once it does it's fine but wondering why it takes so long. Also my fan is constantly on. Comes in even when engine is stone cold. Even when I disconnect the fan it takes a long time to warm up. I checked the thermostat today and that is ok. Also. I have noticed that it loses quite a bit of coolant over a few days. So having to constantly top it up. But I can't see any obvious leaks…
I'm drawn towards a heater matrix problem. Any other ideas before I part with money…
Thanks
Andrew
Added (1). Also my car does not have A/C or a windscreen demister.
It is a 16 year old Fiesta. What do you expect?
If the fan is always running it would take longer for your coolant to heat up, which opens a thermostat, which gives you heat. I wouldn't worry about it.
You say the thermostat is OK, but it obviously isn't! Replace thermostat with a new one.
You took the thermostat out and boiled it in water to see if it opened? Anyone with a brain would have just replaced the thermostat.
If you don't have any leaks you have a bad head gasket and are burning coolant. Have a mechanic do a "block test" to verify a bad head gasket.
You are over heating the motor and don't realize it. When there's air in the cooling system the radiator fan will run and the temperature gauge will not be accurate.
- What should be done to a car that s been sitting for a long time? My parents bought me and my brother a 2001 ford mustang about a month ago. It has 88,000 miles on it and the previous owner (not the original owner) had been letting it sit for about 6 months I think he said. The car obviously hasn't been driven that much. I know I should obviously change the oil and all filters. I don't know too much about cars but am learning and was just wondering from any mechanics out there what all I should do to it.
- I have a 2000 dodge caravan and the rear heat works great but the front heat blows cold? The blower motors all work fine, has new water pump and brand new coolant. The top vents in the dash blow lukewarm warm but if you switch it to defrost it comes out ice cold but the rear heat still blows super hot air. Coolant level is full. I've read about the blend door could that be the issue? Could a coolant line to the front dash be clogged? I'm a ford mechanic but kinda stumped and have never worked on a dodge.
- I called my mechanic he said it takes three hours to change front end o2oxyen sensor.i have 2007 Ford Fusion I called my mechanic he said it takes three hours to change front end o2oxyen sensor. I have 2007 Ford Fusion
- Would a ford focus 2012 with 80k miles last a long time given that i treat it right and only take it within the city from and to work? As long as the car would last me 5 years minimum but i don't know jack about cars so if i could have an expert give me a diagnosis i would gladly appreciate it
